As an Independent Non-Executive Director (INED), you will provide independent, objective oversight to the Board, ensuring robust governance and strategic alignment. Your role will balance deep regulatory understanding with a strong focus on strategy, commercial acumen, and supporting the executive team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Oversight: Provide critical input and guidance on Kroo's strategic objectives, ensuring alignment with our mission and growth ambitions backed by a commercial mindset
  • Technology and Digital Banking: Provide oversight of Kroo's banking technology, cybersecurity, and digital initiatives, ensuring they align with business goals and regulatory requirements
  • Challenge and Support: Actively engage with the executive team, offering constructive challenges to strategic proposals and decisions while fostering a supportive environment for success
  • Governance Leadership: Uphold Kroo's governance framework, ensuring adherence to best practices, and fostering a culture of accountability, integrity, and ethical leadership
  • Regulatory Insight: Leverage your understanding of financial regulations, including FCA, PRA, and Consumer Duty standards, along with ICAAP, ILAAP, risk and capital frameworks to ensure robust compliance and risk management frameworks.
  • Membership of Board Committees: Actively participate in Board Committees, with membership aligned to your expertise and the Board's needs, contributing to effective governance and decision-making


Requirements

Key Skills Areas:

  • Commercial Acumen: Ensure the Board prioritises customer-centric innovations, operational efficiency, and financial sustainability alongside compliance and risk management, within the context of a retail banking environment
  • Retail Product Knowledge - Current Account, Savings and Lending: Ensure alignment between product offerings, market needs, and compliance with UK regulations
  • Technology: Oversee our Technology & IT infrastructure in line with operational, strategic, and regulatory needs
  • Financial Crime and AML Oversight: Guide the Board in anti-money laundering strategies and financial crime prevention
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Represent the interests of shareholders, customers, and employees, ensuring their perspectives inform decision-making


Required Skills And Attributes

  • 5+ Years proven experience in a strategic leadership role within the UK Retail banking sector ideally with fintech experience.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to drive business growth while maintaining robust risk management
  • Familiarity with banking technology, cybersecurity, and digital transformation initiatives
  • Expertise in governance frameworks, compliance, and consumer duty requirements
  • Ability to navigate complex stakeholder relationships with tact and influence
  • A track record of challenging and supporting leadership teams effectively
