Permanent, full time Location – Selby/Ipswich/London/Northampton

Who we are:

We’re not just talking about making a difference, we’re making it happen. We generate dispatchable, renewable power and create stable energy in an uncertain world. Building on our proud heritage, we have ambition to become the global leader in sustainable biomass and carbon removals.

You’ll be joining our teams of practical doers, future thinkers and business champions. We’re enabling a zero carbon, lower cost energy future for all, and working hard to decarbonise the planet for generations to come.

About the role:

An exciting role within the Industry Governance team at the forefront of the energy transition and the pathway to net zero. As an Industry Governance Officer you’ll be responsible for contributing to industry workgroups and developing industry code changes. You will coordinate Drax Group input to industry reform consultations, analyse the impacts of changes to charging arrangements and influence positive outcomes for the Group.

Reporting to the Industry Codes & Charging Manager, you’ll ensure industry changes and code modifications are successfully delivered into the business within the required timelines to ensure compliance.

Day-to-day you’ll lead on managing responses to RFI’s, modification proposals and industry consultations, and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.

You’ll work collaboratively with many internal stakeholders spanning our Generation and Retail activities, as well as the Trading & Optimisation function and the Group Market Analysis and Strategy teams, to ensure the prospective regulatory and industry governance landscape is included in the assessment of strategic opportunities and market and pricing forecasts.

A confident communicator and natural networker you’ll develop trusted relationships with code bodies and other industry stakeholders, such as Ofgem, and will represent the Drax Group at industry meetings.

Who we’re looking for:

You’ll have an in-depth understanding of the energy sector and familiarity with the associated industry code, charging and governance arrangements. Strong Microsoft Office Skills are essential in this role.

You’ll have strong written and verbal communication and excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships quickly as this role will involve working with all levels of stakeholders within the Group and externally. You’ll be commercially minded, and solutions focused, working flexibly, welcoming challenges and embracing changing priorities.

You’ll be curious and enthusiastic about the world we live in, the energy transition, carbon removals and our role within them. In this role you can expect to make a difference as part of a purpose-driven company and will bring ideas and your own perspectives to challenge and enhance the wider team.

Rewards and benefits:

As you help us to shape the future, we’ve shaped our rewards and benefits to help you thrive and support

your lifestyle. If successful in this role you’ll get:

  • A discretionary bonus depending on company performance
  • Private Healthcare with Vitality
  • SAYE (Sharesave): discretionary scheme from time to time
  • Personal accident cover
  • Group personal pension plan where we’ll pay up to 10%
  • Holiday 25 days plus bank holidays
  • Reimbursement of the cost of your annual membership of one relevant and appropriate professional body
