Job purpose
- Arbuthnot Latham utilises multiple cloud platforms to provide services to clients and internal customers. The IT Infrastructure team is accountable for managing and supporting this cloud platform for all AL’s key systems and services. Working in a team with other Infrastructure Engineers, this role will focus on, amongst other areas, the management and deployment of Azure resources, cost management and security management.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Provision and manage infrastructure resources in the cloud using tools like Azure Resource Manager templates or Terraform.
- Implement and provide support for Networking, Databases, Software, and Servers in the Cloud.
- Perform risk assessments of existing and new technology deployments.
- Recommend, implement, and monitor security auditing and alerting solutions.
- Monitor cloud and on-premises resources to verify integrity and availability.
- Troubleshoot operational issues, escalating as appropriate and offering solutions.
- Collaborate with application development, network/security, and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless integration within the production environment, including validation planning, validation testing coordination, and reporting production readiness for deployment.
- Establish standards, tools, and processes to be used by the team and create procedures to guarantee adherence and compliance to those standards.
- Develop, document, and understand internal IT processes and procedures.
- Ensure timely resolution of issues, and be responsible for communicating with all impacted parties the status and resolution of all issues.
- Communicate with customers and notify them of impending changes or agreed outages.
- Keep up to date on new technologies and advancements in current technologies.

Person Specification
Knowledge/Experience/Skills:
- Strong experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure
- Strong experience of Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment
- Strong experience of Devops, Azure Pipelines, and GitLab CI/CD tools to automate the build, test, and deployment processes
- Strong experience in Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Awareness of Containerisation Technologies
- Strong experience with version control systems like Git or Azure Repos
- Knowledge of security best practices and compliance frameworks like GDPR or HIPAA
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities to identify and resolve any issues during the development and deployment processes
- Strong understanding of security concepts surrounding operating systems and applications
- Knowledge of IT industry standards, change management processes, and use of enterprise standards change control procedures
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external groups in a team environment to improve overall customer service and support
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise effectively, and proactively determine areas requiring additional attention, monitoring, or maintenance
- Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) (desirable)
- Experience in Terraform and Azure Resource Manager templates (desirable)
- Experience in scripting languages such as PowerShell or Bash (desirable)
- Experience with Azure Monitor or SolarWinds tools (desirable)
- Knowledge of agile methodologies, such as Scrum, Kanban and sprint planning (desirable)
- Experience with Azure Landing Pages, Blueprints and RBAC (desirable)
- Experience with Microsoft technologies such as Active Directory, Group Policies, Certificate Services, IIS, etc (desirable)
