Description
We are looking for an Intermediate Product Designer to join our team and help us create innovative and user-centric digital solutions for our clients. You will play a key role in contributing to UX research, design, and strategy across multiple projects, from discovery to delivery. You will work closely with clients, stakeholders, developers, and other designers to understand the business goals, user needs, and technical constraints.
You will also conduct user research, create user personas, journey maps, wireframes, prototypes, and design systems. You will communicate your findings and recommendations to the team and the client, and ensure that the final product meets the user expectations and the project objectives to get the best results from UX practices.

Key Responsibilities
Perform UX and design activities for CDL's flagship consumer facing products:
- Plan and conduct user research using various methods (e.g. interviews, surveys, usability testing, etc.)
- Facilitate workshop sessions to comprehend problems, conduct research, and support solution ideation.
- Analyse and synthesise user data to identify user needs, pain points, and opportunities
- Create user personas, journey maps, scenarios, and stories to illustrate user behaviours, goals, and motivations
- Define the information architecture, navigation, and interaction design for the digital products, actively contributes to company strategy
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and design systems to communicate and test the design solutions
- Present and justify your UX design decisions to guide the team and the client based on user research and best practices
- Collaborate with developers to ensure that the design is implemented correctly and consistently
- Evaluate the usability and effectiveness of the digital products and provide feedback for improvement with real end users in mind
- Contribute to and improve the CDL Design system and UI component library
Responsible and accountable for your own work and professional development:
- Stay updated on the latest trends and developments in UX research, design, and strategy
- Mentoring Junior UX designers and those in the business that want to understand UX
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
- 3+ years of proven experience in UX research and product design
- Suitable up to date training in UX design, human-computer interaction, psychology, or related field
- Experience creating hi-fidelity design artefacts and wireframing for mobile apps and websites, For example, prototypes, end to end user journeys and customer experience maps
- Proficiency in UX design tools, we use Figma, but knowledge in others is great too (e.g. Sketch, InVision, Adobe XD, etc.)
- Experience planning and performing user research and testing activities
- Proficiency in UX research methods and tools (e.g. Maze.co, UsabilityHub, SurveyMonkey, etc.)
- Able to quickly establish working relationships with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Software Engineers and QA's
- Commercial awareness – You will have experience delivering UX and design artefacts for client projects
- Peer review and critique projects throughout design and development for usability
- Experience contributing to inhouse design systems and creating documentation
- Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team managing multiple projects and prioritising tasks
- Attention to detail and quality, with a passion for creating user-friendly and engaging digital experiences
- A Strong portfolio demonstrating UX/UI design expertise, including user-centered design principles, interaction design, and visual design

The salary for the role of
Intermediate Product Designer pays
up to £48,000p.a. Falling within our pay banding of £35,000 to £61,000, providing a fantastic opportunity for career progression through CDL's clearly defined career framework (https://progression.cdl.co.uk/).
