About The Role

We are currently seeking a talented Internal Audit Senior Manager to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to support abrdn’s strategic goals in the Investments Vector, drive innovation, and contribute to our success.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Oversight:

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of abrdn’s Investments Vector, including its risks and opportunities.
  • Set audit and stakeholder engagement strategies for assigned components within the audit universe.
  • Own and manage relationships with significant senior stakeholders, including members of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and Non-Executive Directors (NEDs).

Audit Execution And Insights

  • Attend senior governance committees, including entity boards, to represent the Internal Audit function and deliver insights to clients, management, and regulators.
  • Lead and prioritise a portfolio of complex audits, ensuring alignment with key risks and phased delivery schedules.
  • Oversee the production of high-quality, impactful audit reports that communicate findings succinctly and effectively.

Root Cause Analysis And Recommendations

  • Identify root causes of risk management weaknesses and recommend robust, practical solutions aligned with abrdn’s strategic objectives.
  • Contribute to the annual Control Environment Assessment by identifying and socialising key themes across your portfolio with senior management.

Leadership And Collaboration

  • Provide high-quality coaching to team members, ensuring their development and adherence to quality standards.
  • Actively support the leadership of the Investments Vector, including people management and departmental initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of trust, collaboration, and innovation across the function.
  • Deputise for the Head of Audit when required.

Innovation And Independence

  • Embrace digital and innovative approaches to improve ways of working and support team development.
  • Maintain independence and resilience, ensuring the right messages are delivered under challenge.

About The Candidate

  • Degree-level education or equivalent industry experience.
  • Relevant professional qualification (e.g., CPA, ACA, ACCA, ICAS, CIA) or equivalent
  • Extensive Internal and/or External Audit experience
  • Ability to align audit priorities with business objectives
  • Expertise in risk analysis and identifying improvement opportunities.
  • Experience in managing multiple complex projects with competing priorities.
