About The Role
We are looking for a Licensing Sales Manager to apply their skills in revenue growth and sourcing new, large-scale licensing partnerships, supporting senior leadership and working across all functions to maximize the business impact of The Athletic’s large and growing global commercial organization. Our ideal candidate will have experience in content licensing and the broader media and publishing industries, and be able to seek out opportunities with c-level executives at key companies in the media and sports spaces internationally.
Responsibilities
- Develop and secure new licensing partnerships for The Athletic in international markets
- Oversee the growth of a direct content licensing business and be accountable for short-term and long-term revenue targets
- Identify new strategies for how to expand The Athletic’s footprints into new geographies in order to create incremental revenue opportunities for the commercial and subscription businesses
- Own and manage a pipeline of sales leads
- Work closely with the broader Commercial team to ensure licensing efforts are in alignment with our commercial and content strategies
- Work in tandem with the ad marketing team to develop marketing and sales materials that show the value of The Athletic’s platform in contextual and relevant ways
- Be an advocate and representative for The Athletic at various summits, conferences, and major sports events
Requirements
- BA/BS degree with 7 years of content licensing experience, preferably in sports or media organizations
- Large book of contacts across global media companies
- Experience across multiple media disciplines and a thorough understanding of how successful media companies commercialize their business
- High level of professionalism; driven and motivated with excellent follow-up
- Self-motivated and the ability to work autonomously.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Creative and strategic thinking skills
- Based in London, United Kingdom
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with colleagues based in New York, around North America, and internationally
