At OCU Opals, we have a new opportunity for a self-employed Inventory & Stock Controller to join our Team!
The Inventory and Stock Controller is responsible for managing, monitoring, and controlling all inventory levels and stock movements within the company. This role will play a critical part in ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of materials, parts, and equipment required for telecom engineering projects, including fibre build and civil engineering. The Inventory and Stock Controller will work closely with procurement, project managers, warehouse staff, and suppliers to maintain accurate records and optimise stock levels, minimising waste and reducing project delays.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records of all stock and inventory levels, ensuring systems are updated and discrepancies are promptly addressed.
- Oversee daily stock movements, both incoming and outgoing, to ensure adequate levels are maintained for ongoing and upcoming projects.
- Collaborate with project and procurement teams to forecast material needs, plan restocking schedules, and reduce excess or outdated inventory.
- Place orders for materials, equipment, and consumables based on established stock levels and projected needs, in line with budgetary guidelines.
- Oversee the receipt of all goods and materials, ensuring quality standards are met and quantities are accurately recorded. Report any damages or discrepancies immediately.
- Liaise with suppliers to confirm delivery schedules, resolve supply issues, and address quality or quantity concerns.
- Ensure that all stock handling processes comply with company safety standards and industry regulations, and that materials are stored securely and safely.
- Conduct periodic inventory counts and audits to verify stock accuracy, manage discrepancies, and update records accordingly.
- Identify and implement opportunities for inventory process improvements, working towards lean operations and waste reduction.
- Prepare and present inventory reports to management, highlighting key metrics, trends, and potential issues that may impact project timelines.
Skills & Experience
- At least 2+ years in inventory or stock control, ideally within telecom engineering, construction, or a related industry.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- High attention to detail to ensure accuracy in records and minimize stock discrepancies.
