The Role:
An opportunity has arisen for a Junior Analyst to join M&G’s Equity Research team in the Financials sector. The team provides independent, actionable insights and stock recommendations to fund managers with the ultimate aim of contributing to investment performance through analytical input. A Junior Analyst in the Equity Research team plays a key role on corporate coverage alongside our Senior Analysts, whilst also developing their own primary analyst skills over time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting a senior analyst in the coverage of their sector on a daily basis, within a wider team of 11 central equity research analysts.
- Undertaking specific stock and sector work under the supervision of a senior analyst.
- Assisting the senior analyst in their monitoring of news and price movements.
- Developing and maintaining company and sector financial models, organising and interpreting investment data to help reach conclusions.
- Writing clear and succinct content for stock review reports and presentations.
- Accompanying senior analyst to company management meetings, as well as preparing questions and analysis in advance.
- Building and maintaining working relationships with key stakeholders from across the business, including fund management teams, private asset and credit analysts.
- Representing colleagues in strategic projects within Investments.
- Developing primary analyst skills, with the potential in time to take on responsibility for certain themes and sub-sectors.
- Always acting in a regulatory complaint manner and upholding the highest standards of business and personal ethics
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Strong academic background.
- Experience as an equity analyst
- High integrity and strong interpersonal skills – a positive, collegial attitude and high level of professionalism are essential.
- Proven numerical skills, analytical curiosity and rigorous attention to detail.
- Proactive and adaptable problem solver who is self-motivated, able to think laterally and willing to take a differentiated perspective.
- Highly organised and able to thrive in a time-pressured role.
- Able to work independently but collaborate both within and across teams.
- Interest in markets, economics and politics, with a passion for learning, and a willingness to own one’s own development.
- Exceptional communication/presentation skills with a strong command of the English language (verbal and written skills).
- Strong in Excel and ideally somewhat experienced in Bloomberg.
