Junior Geoscience Data Manager.
This role would ideally suit a graduate looking for their first role in the energy sector, or someone who has 1-2 years' industry experience looking for the next step in their career. The successful candidate will work as part of a project team based on-site in Aberdeen.
The successful candidate will work alongside the current team providing a key service to our energy supermajor clients, in addition to contributing to Sword's growing SDO service line. The objective is to create a quality-controlled batch of well data which adheres to project requirement and client requests. Training and learning & development opportunities will be provided.
Requirements
Education:
- University Degree, preferably in Geology/Petroleum Geology/Earth Sciences with a sound knowledge of Information Technology
Essential Experience:
- An awareness of subsurface (Geoscience & Engineering) data types and the complex nature of how the data is obtained, stored, integrated, applied, and managed across multiple business functions
Desirable Experience:
- A knowledge of wireline and MWD/LWD logging tools and their applications
- Cross-discipline knowledge within the subsurface domain (Geology, Petrophysics, Geophysics, Reservoir Engineering, Wells etc.)
- The ability to prioritise workloads, work to strict deadlines and follow workflows
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally (in English)
- A detail-orientated self-starter with the ability to solve technical problems
- Knowledge of data management, data clean-up, quality control and data loading
- Any experience working with commonly used software in the subsurface industry such as Petrel, Techlog, Geolog and Interactive Petrophysics, or relational databases
