Salary - National (Edinburgh and Leeds) ranging from £41,800 to £52,200 and London £46,000 to £57,400 per annum (Salary offered will be based on skills and experience)

Data, Technology and Innovation (DTI) is leveraging state-of-the-art data & digital capabilities to deliver innovation in regulation. We utilise data science and intelligence gathering to proactively identify and intervene to prevent harm and protect consumers.

As part of the Data, Technology & Innovation (DTI) Division, we are leading the FCA in harnessing the power of data and advanced analytics to transform financial regulation.

What will you be doing?

As a User Researcher At The FCA You Will Work Alongside Senior User Researchers To Help Deliver User Research Support To Multi-disciplinary Digital Product Teams To Design New Products And Services That Help Our Users Achieve Their Goals

  • Support the planning and design of inclusive user research activities, and carry out research with a diverse set of users to help teams get a deep understanding of the people using FCA services
  • Provide clear findings that a wide range of colleagues can understand and use
  • Support inclusive and accessible design and development of products and services
  • Align user research activities with wider plans to inform a service proposition

Which skills are required?

Minimum

  • User research experience in a user-centred design setting
  • Experience in working in project/programme environments involving business & IT change
  • Research experience within any of the following types of organisations/sectors: financial services, government/regulatory body, technology, consultancy (ideally IT consultancy)

Essential

  • Analysis and Synthesis: Proficient in basic research data analysis and synthesis techniques, engaging teams effectively and presenting actionable findings
  • User-Centred Design: Demonstrates foundational understanding of user-centred service design and delivery, with knowledge of related technologies and multidisciplinary team roles
  • Research Skills: Experienced in basic user research methods, knowing when and how to apply them, and involving the team in these activities
  • Inclusive Research: Recognises the diversity of users and prioritises usability and accessibility in service design
  • Strategic Insight: Understands organisational goals and challenges, aligning research to inform policy and strategy effectively
  • Team Involvement: Promotes collaborative involvement of teams in analysis, synthesis, and research processes
  • Practical Application: Applies user-centred principles and research insights to enhance service delivery and digital product development
