- Responsible for leading a team of surveyors to deliver specific Business land requirements including high value negotiation of land rights & risk mitigation to deliver a high standard land delivery.
- Work closely across the department and with, other internal stakeholders & external parties including key Landowners to build & develop high level relationships.
- Comply with all professional standards in Real Estate as well as business specific and regulatory compliance ensuring an independent and fully professional approach to all aspects of land delivery.
- Negotiate and advise on critical, high value land agreements, working to stakeholder requirements and timescales.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead a team of professionally qualified Real Estates experts.
- Negotiate, manage and add value to a significant mixed portfolio of operational land and assets
- Mitigate financial and operational risk ensuring full compliance with all statutory requirements and ensuring any land rights being secured, extended, or re-negotiated are commensurate with market levels.
- Supporting the development and delivering land strategies which will help deliver Business objectives, meeting and adding to Business Operating plans.
- Advising and preventing the potential of multi-million-pound compensation claims across portfolio
- Lead and develop a team of Chartered Surveyors to be held accountable for their delivery, ensuring team have the relevant skills, knowledge, and capability to meet the needs of the commercial, compliance and legal needs in relation to the delivery of an effective land strategy.
- Support and challenge project budgets, mitigating any increased costs whilst ensuring full compliance with all legal and compliance across portfolio and land rights.
- Work collaboratively across L&E and Business Management team to deliver best value from any contracting and tendering with appropriate consideration given to opportunities to maximise support from 3rd party supply chain to enhance delivery and reduce costs.
- Engagement with wider Business stakeholders to advise, guide and ensure value added approach to land delivery on existing technologies and new propositions which rely on effective land rights.
- Present and influence at middle management level across Scottish power organisation including attendance at Boards and key project forums where required.
- Key role in ensuring representation of Estates across any Business plan submission which will have an impact on land rights delivery and consequential financial requirements
What You’ll Bring
- Educated to degree level in a Real Estate discipline, Member of RICS with demonstratable PQE.
- Experience delivering complex land rights for high-profile infrastructure and energy projects across the UK.
- Open, inclusive, and approachable style of management leading collaboration across team, stakeholders and GSUK
- Detailed understanding of Energy market with particular focus on relevant Business area for the short-, medium- and long-term targets,
- Ability to promote professional standards as well as being a key role model holding a high-profile position across an SP Business
- Experience working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders including Senior colleagues, Solicitors & External industry peers to develop strategies, objectives, policies, and procedures designed to achieve the highest performance levels for a land & property portfolio.
- Ability to work autonomously on high profile, time of the essence projects recognising the need for support and sensitivity where required.
- Proactive approach to Real Estate Management with an ability to recognise opportunities for efficiencies and new approaches.
- Have an ability to keep abreast of wider market factors that will influence land delivery strategy including growing and developing a network of key contacts to aid such.
- Strong leadership credentials managing a team of Chartered Surveyors with responsibility to develop and execute a Real Estate strategy.
- Strong ability to mentor, coach and develop a team of Chartered Surveyors ensuring the correct allocation of resource to meet an ever-changing workload and demand.
- As Professionally qualified Chartered Surveyors the team must ensure compliance with regulations and standards pertaining to all aspects of the built environment.
