The opportunity

Join us as a Lead Engineer for Client Solutions & Delivery and help transform the pharmaceutical industry with cutting-edge AI technology. In this key role, you'll oversee the technical implementation of our SaaS platform, ensuring seamless delivery for our clients. Collaborating closely with the Project Manager and cross-functional teams, including data engineering, data science, and platform teams, you will drive the integration of data-driven AI solutions. From planning to execution, your technical leadership will be crucial in guiding projects to success while maintaining the highest standards of quality in our platform.

This is a hybrid working opportunity, working 3 days a week from either our Leiden (Netherlands) or Cambridge (UK) office.

Role responsibilities

How will you make an impact at Envision Pharma Group?

• Oversee the technical implementation of OKRA's SaaS platform for clients, ensuring successful data integration, transformation, and platform delivery.
• Lead and coordinate technical teams across data engineering, data science, and platform integration, ensuring alignment with project objectives and timelines.
• Collaborate with the Project Manager and cross-functional teams to define project requirements, scope, and delivery plans, ensuring smooth execution across all stages of the implementation process.
• Provide technical guidance and hands-on support in data engineering tasks, such as ETL processes, data pipelines, and cloud-based data solutions.
• Monitor progress, identify risks, and proactively troubleshoot technical challenges to ensure timely project delivery.
• Champion best practices in data management, engineering, and deployment within the project, including data quality, data governance, and software development methodologies.
• Work closely with data science teams to integrate AI models, including machine learning (ML), natural language processing (NLP), and large language models (LLMs), into the platform.
• Stay up-to-date with advancements in AI, machine learning, and cloud-based solutions, ensuring OKRA's technology stack remains cutting-edge and aligned with industry trends.
• Engage with clients during the onboarding process and provide technical support throughout the implementation lifecycle.

Do you have what we are looking for?

Skills & expertise

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
• Extensive demonstrable experience in data engineering or software engineering roles, with a strong track record of leading technical projects in a data-driven environment.
• Proven expertise in designing, implementing, and managing ETL/ELT processes, data pipelines, and data lakes.
• Experience working with AI models, including ML, NLP and LLMs, and integrating them into production systems.
• Solid experience with AWS services (e.g. EC2, S3, Glue) and modern data processing tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, Spark, Luigi, Kedro).
• Hands-on experience with Python 3.9 or later, with knowledge of data frameworks (e.g., Pandas, PySpark).
• Strong understanding of software development best practices, including version control, testing, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD).
• Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders (internal and external)
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and project management tools such as Jira.

Bonus points if you have;

• Experience in the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry, with an understanding of AI solutions' applications.
