You’ll have an impact on bringing digital-first banking to our customers by defining the future state architecture vision and strategies for our Global Businesses and Global Functions.

You’ll be developing business, data, software, and integration architecture standards to manage processes, systems, and technology complexity across the HSBC Group. Through dynamic, agile collaboration you’ll work closely with business partners to translate their requirements into integrated solutions that can be deployed globally using consistent service patterns for ease of deployment, support, and enhancement.

Enterprise Technology is the Technology organisation responsible for the design, build and ongoing maintenance of the systems owned by the Group Functions (Risk, Compliance, Finance, Core Banking, Corporate Functions and Deputy COO). The organisation consists of over 8,000 people working in collaboration across 14 countries, to support over 3,000 applications.

Risk and Compliance is the Global Function that brings together all areas of financial crime risk management at HSBC. Compliance is dedicated to implementing the most effective global standards to combat financial crime (including anti-money laundering, sanctions and anti-bribery and corruption compliance).

In this role you will:

  • The Investigations Lead Solutions Architect (Investigations LSA) will work with the leadership of the Investigative Tooling sub value stream, product ownership and Engineering, helping them define their technology vision and strategy.
  • This role will be one of the principal enablers in ensuring the Financial Crime Business strategy is able to be realised through identifying, designing and supporting the delivery of the key technical capabilities within the investigative tooling technology estate.
  • Additionally, the Investigations LSA will ensure the architecture governance practices are followed and designs are correctly aligned and supportive of the related Compliance & HSBC strategies (Tech, Data, Cloud, Security, etc.).
  • The Investigations LSA will be responsible for creating and owning architecture deliverables as part of the Risk and Compliance architecture team:
  • Contributing to the target architecture definition and delivery, including identification of opportunities for simplification
  • Liaising with many geographically dispersed teams to coordinate solution design
  • Producing both written and verbal knowledge transfer documentation in preparation for transitioning the solution to BAU ownership by the client
  • Understanding the business and organizational context of Name Screening and using this knowledge to reduce risks

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Strong design experience in service based solution patterns utilising APIs, containerisation (Docker) & container orchestration (Kubernetes).
  • Experience working in a hybrid environments with on-prem and multiple cloud service providers.
  • Experience, knowledge and understanding of Data Architecture principles.
  • Ability to understand, articulate and translate customer journeys into technical design.
  • Experience in architectural transformation programmes
  • Experience in decomposing monolithic solutions and reducing technical debt
  • The ability to communicate efficiently upwards (to business), downwards (to IT teams) and laterally (to peers, vendors, and client-side staff)
  • A strong understanding of technology concepts, roles, and terminology

This role is based in Sheffield and offer hybrid working.
