The opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Lead Systems Engineer to join our team. You will use your skills of understanding problems, systems design and team leadership. For example, you’ll create use cases and problem statements for solutions to be designed against. Overall, you’ll strive for efficiency by aligning digital platform systems with business goals and roadmaps.
To succeed in this Lead Systems Engineer position, you should have strong analytical skills and the ability to work with diverse stakeholders to create an agreed position between both technical and business minded people. Lead Systems Engineer skills also include familiarity with architecture development, agile working methodologies and digital platform technologies.

What You’ll Do As a Lead Systems Engineer
Systems Engineers span a range of activities that help pull together all the necessary engineering and technology strands into a high-performance system. As a Systems Engineer, you will bridge the gap between the theoretically possible and the practically implementable.
Typical work you might be involved in
- Analyse and organise raw data
- Build data systems and pipelines
- Evaluate business needs and objectives
- Interpret trends and patterns
- Conduct complex data analysis and report on results
- Prepare data for prescriptive and predictive modelling
- Build algorithms and prototypes
- Combine raw information from different sources
- Explore ways to enhance data quality and reliability
- Identify opportunities for data acquisition
- Develop analytical tools and programs
- Collaborate with data scientists and architects on several projects
What We Need From You
- Extensive previous experience as a systems engineer leading the development of services or products.
- Extensive experience of problem definition, stakeholder engagement, stakeholder management, needs development and use case development.
- Experience of leading multidisciplinary engineering teams from early lifecycle through to operations.
- Experience of influencing and negotiation with diverse stakeholders from both technical and non-technical backgrounds and perspectives.
- Experience of developing and delivering against technology and product roadmaps.
- Degree or equivalent education in a STEM subject.
- Delivery of services or products in a defense or security domain is a plus.
- Understanding of digital platform technologies is a plus.
- Chartered Engineer status is a plus.
