As a Lead Technical Architect, you will take a pivotal role in designing and delivering cutting-edge solutions that align with our strategic vision. You will lead system designs, oversee multiple projects, and mentor other architects, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, and aligned with user and business needs. What You’ll Do


  • Design Leadership: Create optimal technical designs, understand & integrating user needs, system requirements, and security within organisational objectives.
  • Strategy & Architecture artefacts Development: Define and deliver enterprise-wide technical strategies, roadmaps, and architectures.
  • Technical Oversight: Lead design reviews for new solutions, ensuring “Secure by Design” principles are incorporated along with best of architecture practice'
  • Collaboration: Work across Home Office teams and with external partners to align systems and services with government objectives.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive innovation by evaluating technologies, integrating lessons learned from projects, and promoting best practices.
  • Mentorship: Coach and mentor junior architects, fostering a culture of technical excellence and professional growth.
  • Contribution: to the development of architectural practice, ensuring a coherent and consistent strategy across architecture domains.


What You’ll Bring


  • Architectural Expertise: Proven ability to solve complex problems across multiple projects with strategic architectural thinking, delivering within scope, time, and quality.
  • Technical Leadership: Skilled in driving innovative designs, fostering technical excellence, and leveraging emerging technologies to support future opportunities.
  • Collaboration: Experienced in aligning solutions with organisational goals through engagement with third-party suppliers and cross-government teams.
  • Strategic Planning: Proficient in developing technical roadmaps and strategies aligned with business goals and long-term vision.
  • Technical Depth: Expertise in at least two areas, such as network design, APIs, middleware, databases, virtualisation, or multi-cloud technologies. Familiarity with frameworks like DAMA, TOGAF, or ZACHMAN is advantageous.
  • Leadership & Mentorship: Experienced in guiding architects, ensuring alignment with business outcomes, and driving continuous innovation in practices.
