The vacancy

We’re looking for a Legal Support Team Lead and Partner’s Secretary to join our Commercial Dispute Resolution department at our Guildford office. Located near the Tunsgate shopping centre, our office is just a short walk from shops and restaurants, making it a convenient and accessible location.

Our Commercial Dispute team in which there are 12 lawyers and 3 secretaries at Moore Barlow specialises in resolving a diverse range of commercial conflicts. We provide expert advice on matters such as breach of contract, professional negligence, partnership disputes, and debt recovery. With our deep expertise, we ensure clients receive strategic, tailored advice to help them navigate the complex legal landscape of commercial disputes, aiming for timely and effective resolutions.

More About Us

Formed via a merger in 2020, Moore Barlow recently launched its refreshed brand and firmly positioned itself as a leading regional law firm. We are featured in The Times’ Best Law Firms 2024 list, and consistently achieve recognition for the quality of our services in the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners.

Day To Day

Our Firm is built on the value of “Human First”, and because of that, we are looking to recruit those with a passion for delivering the best possible outcomes for their clients, and the drive to continuously learn and improve. You will ideally:

  • Provide support for the Dispute Resolution Partner
  • Administer files, including opening, closing, storing, and retrieving per firm procedures.
  • Accurately record information in the practice management system as provided by fee earners.
  • Draft letters, documents, and forms, using dictation.
  • Manage daily diaries for themselves and colleagues, tracking key dates and follow-ups.
  • Oversee part of the Department’s secretarial support team of 5, ensuring efficient, high-quality support for Solicitors and the broader team.
  • Coordinate work across the secretarial team, managing resources to cover absences, high workloads, and future needs.

What We Are Looking For

We are a friendly, and supportive team, and we value those same qualities in our colleagues. You might be an experienced Legal Secretary ready to take the next step in your career, ideally with a background in Dispute Resolution or Civil Litigation, along with some management experience.

If you have this experience and are keen to develop your career in CDR, then we’d strongly encourage you to apply.
