Fantastic opportunity for a litigator (possibly someone with an insurance background) to join our education practice and advise schools on their liability for claims brought against them and to represent them when and if claims are issued. We are looking for someone to build and manage a diverse and interesting caseload, advising on liability and risk, claims management and conducting the defence of civil claims for compensation (most of which will be uninsured). We are looking for someone at associate or senior associate level (although we will consider candidates outside this) to undertake interesting and often high profile work, largely within the education sector.

The Role
Here at VWV, ongoing growth means we are looking for a litigator, ideally with some expertise in defending liability claims brought against schools (for example claims relating to abuse), to join our thriving regulatory, risk and resolution team, led by Partner, Tabitha Cave. Your role will centre on advice about possible claims and the conduct of them when issued, to support our holistic service offering. You will find yourself managing a diverse and interesting caseload, advising not just on claims management, but with some pre-action and risk mitigation work.
This new role offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity to work on complex matters, as well as the chance to grow and develop your career in a supportive and innovative team. You will be joining a firm that values progression and personal development, with clear opportunities for advancement.
About You
You will be a qualified lawyer with experience in insurance law and/or the management of public liability and/or professional indemnity matters, ideally with some experience of vicarious liability and/or abuse. You will have strong technical expertise, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to deliver clear, concise, and commercially-focused advice to clients. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, enabling you to build solid relationships with clients and colleagues. You will be confident in managing your own caseload, working independently while also contributing positively to a busy team. A keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work are also key to your success in this role.
