Job Description
As a Maintenance Engineer within our plant, you be responsible for ensuring the safe operation of all equipment and efficient scheduling of repairs of plant and machinery and other general maintenance to ensure optimum efficiency for the business. You will work in collaboration with key functions of the business in order to improve production facilities, reduce the incidence of costly breakdowns and achieve set strategies to improve overall reliability and safety of plant, personnel and production processes. As a Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for the continuous running of buildings, plant, equipment and machinery, utilizing the Max Maintenance system to oversee routine maintenance and organize repairs.
You will carry out core activities including conducting periodic maintenance checks, supporting equipment upgrades and machinery modifications, identifying faults, investigating equipment breakdowns and monitoring the performance of equipment after repairs have been carried out. The role involves working individually and also collaboratively with the on-site maintenance team.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure all company policies surrounding stock, health & safety, quality requirements and housekeeping are met and improved upon as identified
- Fully accountable for achieving all relevant KPIs
- Contribute to maintenance strategies, procedures and methods
- Diagnose breakdown faults – Which range from electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic
- Repair/maintain CNC machinery in both reactive as well as planned preventative maintenance (PPM), to always ensure optimum production capacity
- Ensure that any unresolved technical problems are escalated to the Engineering Manager in a timely fashion
- Fit new parts and making sure equipment is working correctly
- Liaise with departments and other engineering and production colleagues
- Arrange specialist procurement of fixtures, fittings or components
- Maintain maintenance tools, stores and equipment
- Monitor and control maintenance costs
- Deal with emergencies, unplanned problems and repairs
- Write maintenance strategies to help with installation and commissioning of new plant and equipment
Qualifications
- Time served mechanical engineering apprentice or HNC in Mechanical Engineering (essential)
- HND in Mechanical Engineering (desirable)
Experience
- Experience with CNC, manual machinery and rubber injection moulding (essential)
- Knowledge of Mazak, Weingartner, Doosan & Okuma machines (desirable.
Skills, Training & Specialist Knowledge
- Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic & pneumatic systems including schematics (essential)
- CNC fault finding and operation skills (desirable)
- Electrical, hydraulic and pneumatics knowledge (desirable)
- FLT training (desirable)
- MEWP (desirable)
