The Role: Market Data Analyst
Market Data Services team services the businesses market data requirements globally in a cost efficient manner. We currently oversee a multi-million pound budget for market data services. This includes some of the biggest names in the industry for sourcing terminals, reference data, pricing, benchmarks, research data and other specialist data requirements. We ensure that we work strategically with internal stakeholders and with our top vendors, to ensure that the needs of the business are being met, as well as ensuring we are utilizing existing services that we take, whilst staying compliant with the contracts.
You will manage key vendor relationships, ensuring that vendors provide high quality services at competitive prices whilst building and maintaining a collaborative and strategic relationship with our vendors. In addition the candidate needs to have the ability to build internal stakeholder relationships (especially with the front office), in order to understand new requirements, challenges and business strategic drivers, which will then help shape our interaction with the market data vendors. You will have good stakeholder management, influencing, negotiation and collaboration skills. In addition you will need the ability to work on multiple items and therefore organization and prioritization skills are key.
Key Responsibilities for this role:
- Develop and build strong relationships with key vendors
- Monitor and measure the effectiveness and performance of the data services, working in partnership with the key representatives in the Investment Data Services Team and other stakeholders.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing and terms to ensure optimal value.
- Partner with our business and front office stakeholders to understand their businesses needs\challenges and work with them to find appropriate market data solutions.
- Understand stakeholder business strategies to ensure that vendor activities are then aligned to this.
- Help deliver agreed market data team objectives, such as reducing the overall market data budget, ensuring existing services are being utilised efficiently and ensuring we remain complaint to the T&C’s of our contracts.
- Deliver key market data services for our business, aligned with the Market Data Strategy and the overall business strategy.
- Support new BAU requests that come into the team mailbox.
- Work with stakeholders to ensure they understand their market data consumption and spend.
- Represent market data by working with various teams to deliver key strategic projects.
- Support the implementation of controls and procedures throughout the Market Data Services Team.
- Proactively realise opportunities for improvements driving change across Market Data Services.
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in managing market data vendors such as Bloomberg, Refinitiv, S&P, Factset, Credit rating agencies, ESG and benchmark providers (FTSE, MSCI).
- Experience in contract negotiations, licensing and compliance management.
- Ability to build partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. With experience in working with front office stakeholders.
- Understanding of data which drives the Investment Management business.
- Strong collaboration experience, with the ability to inspire, support, influence and lead others.
- Must have strong organization skills, as well as have the ability to prioritise workload.
- Excellent written and communication skills, undertaking presentations and chairing meetings.
- Demonstrates passion, ambition, proactivity and enthusiasm and wants to learn and make a real difference.
- Good knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint
