The Vacancy
This role is in the busy and dynamic Data Journey team which is a joint venture between our Third-Party Administration, Insights & Analytics, and Actuarial Private business units.
You will be part of the digital team focused on the design and delivery of platforms and processes that enable the effective use of data by the wider consulting business.
Playing a pivotal role in the development of digital solutions, this is a technical, hands-on role working with cutting edge technology and processes. Helping to develop and test our range of models to ensure the model output is accurate and products are high quality and usable, this extends to both functional testing (business logic and calculation methodology) and non-functional testing (user experience and system performance). Using business knowledge and experience, this role will also help shape the way we develop and test our models to ensure we keep pace with evolving technologies and client needs.
Key Responsibilities Will Include - Working with;
- Developers to ensure solutions are developed that meet requirements
- Business Analysts to feed into requirements and solution design
- Stakeholders and users to understand requirements
- Become a Subject Matter Expert on our modelling systems
- Prepare and review test plans and other test documentation
- Execute tests for a model/system, including setting up independent checking calculations for models
- Promote and implement automation of testing for long-term efficiency (‘Automate First’ strategy)
- Sign-off systems and models, including functional and non-functional requirements, ensuring these have been thoroughly tested
- Complete tasks required for model consumption e.g. production of market related factors
- Maintain a high standard of documentation and audit trail related to test plans (meeting compliance requirements, release notes, help files)
- Understand the importance of regression packs and help to maintain them
- Provide test estimates to assist in setting timelines, may set overall deadlines and monitor progress
- Provide end user support where appropriate
- Understand impact of software architecture and coding techniques on development quality
- Strong awareness of both business and software domains and can adjust testing techniques appropriately
- Consult with stakeholders throughout the business, analysing options and making recommendations
- Involvement in the overall test strategy and processes being followed across the QA team
- Provide training/mentoring to junior colleagues
- Liaise with delivery leads to ensure appropriate skillset of QAs in the project team and assists with resource planning
- Adhering to the firm’s Information Security standards, policies and procedures.
Qualifications/Skills/Experience
- Good knowledge and understanding of business domain in pensions/actuarial/investments
- Experience working in a similar role or strong business/user experience
- Good knowledge of software development lifecycle
- Strong academic record in a numeric subject
- Good experience with Excel
- Experience of R programming and Python preferable (e.g. ability to read code, debug, code up tests)
