We are looking for an experienced
Nursing Associate to join our ever-expanding team of Health care Professionals here at FCMS, Urgent and Emergency Care Yorkshire!
We pride ourselves on being part of the Doncaster Wound Care Alliance and currently run clinics six days a week from The Same Day Health Centre. We also hold twice weekly complex lives, walk in wound care clinics; this has a huge positive impact on patients who are unable to attend routine appointments due to their complex lifestyle. The team is currently made up of two senior nurses and healthcare assistances.
The City of Doncaster now exceeds 300,000 people who can all benefit from the service we offer. Patients are referred into our service through their own GPs, the emergency department, triage, or pharmacy. We care for varying wound types, from superficial burns to complex Tier 3 leg ulcers.

Hours: 30 hours a week (flexible to increase hours to cover sickness / annual leave)
Pay: £13.57 - £14.87 with enhancements for weekends and bank holidays
Operates:The service operates 6 days a week, Monday-Saturday, including bankholidays
Main duties of the job
The candidate will work closely with our Senior Wound Care nurses to support the day to day running of the wound care service, whilst managing their own workload. The post holder will be based at the SDHC but will be expected to work across all areas to support with wound care delivery if needed.

Main Duties Of The Job
Work under direct and indirect guidance from the Wound Care Nurses
Provide expert wound care to all patients in line with the Wound Care Alliance training.
Give clear and concise communication to service users.
Liaise with secondary care providers and primary care to ensure continuity of care and referrals as appropriate.
Practice safely and effectively with the patients best interest at the core, work within own limitations and seek expert help and advice when needed.
Demonstrate a sound understanding to clinical assessment and advice relating to the treatment and management plan in line with local formularies.
Ensure all mandatory training is up to date and have willingness to develop with further CPD.
Support the senior management team and clinical manager with service improvement.
Act in accordance with the NMC.

Provide face to face assessments
Provide a clear follow up plan and safety netting after each appointment
Demonstrate flexible working in line with the need of the service
Escalate and discuss any clinical concerns with the wound care nurse and the clinical manager
Keep up to date with mandatory training

Provide peer support
Engage and evidence continued learning
Mentor healthcare assistants
Attend meetings when required
Promote the service and implement changes in line with Doncaster CCG
Promote patient education on nutrition and scar management
Work with the team to book patients into clinics as appropriate
Knowledge, Skills, And Experience Required
Experience of working within wound care is desirable. The post holder will demonstrate good professional work ethic and a willingness to learn, whilst working within their scope of practice and under the guidance of the wound care nurse. They will demonstrate good clear communication skills and the ability to work autonomously and within a multi-disciplinary team. Treatment plans will be in line with local formulary, and with the patient at the centre. The post holder will engage in continuous learning and development throughout their employment and have a willingness to share
experience and teaching with the wider team. The post-holder will be expected to undertake all the duties and responsibilities associated with a wound care nursing associate within urgent and
emergency care. The post holder will ensure all aspects of safeguarding are considered in each patient contact and act appropriately with local and organizational guidelines.
Duties & Responsibilities
Provide tier 3 wound care for wounds such as, venous leg ulcers, arterial leg ulcers, surgical wounds, trauma wounds, burns, skin tears and assisting in mild to moderate lymphoedema management, compression bandaging and negative pressure.
Provide thorough holistic assessments
Health promotion and patient education
Thorough lower limb assessments using ABPIS,TBPIS and Doppler
Thorough documentation
Stocking
Keeping costings up to date on a daily basis
Referrals to other services such as vascular, podiatry and TVALS
Working to best practice
Promoting use of antimicrobial stewardship
Recognising infection and escalating
Input into holistic care plans, in order to ensure a focus on the individuals goals and support them to comply with the plan ultimately improving health outcomes
Work to attain the service KPIs and targets
Ensure all patient contact is recorded in a timely manner on the IT systems to enable tracking of patient outcomes, both in real-time to support ongoing intervention planning and retrospectively to understand the impact of the service
To ensure mandatory training is kept up to date
Acknowledge and accommodate barriers to communication and understanding including speech, hearing, language and emotion.
Flexibility in attending organised educational updates and eagerness to expand on current knowledge base and cascading new educational information to colleagues whenever possible
Inform the Clinical Manager of any untoward incidents Work within all relevant policies and procedural guidelines e.g., infection control, safeguarding, chaperoning and risk management

Where necessary relevant training in the operation of new or unfamiliar equipment, software or procedures will be provided or arranged.
