Purpose of the Role
Join the Acoustics team as the NVH Engineer where you'll collaborate with the Functional Manager – Acoustics to deliver our NVH and Sound Quality ambitions and to shape our Beyond100+ strategy.
The NVH Engineer will support the delivery of current and future model lines NVH & Sound Quality test & development of the application of NVH experience in a broader range of acoustic attributes. Working closely with the Sound Quality Technical Manager, the Acoustics Engineer will have responsibility for the technical development and delivery of the whole vehicle attribute target performance, on time and within budget, in collaboration with internal and external business partners to support the delivery of current model lines and the development of new experiences for future model lines. Responsibilities include;
- Competitor benchmarking and setting/delivery of the subjective and objective NVH attribute targets
- Definition of component & system NVH & Sound Quality targets
- Performing relevant objective and subjective NVH & Sound Quality assessments of whole car & systems against sign off status or target at key gateways
- Application of Psychoacoustics metrics and correlation of subjective/objective results to deliver required sound quality
- Ability to conduct complex concerns, root cause investigation, countermeasure development and design recommendations
- Ability to manage outsource activities with key service providers and suppliers
- Ability to conduct other Acoustic attribute testing based on test guidelines, data processing guidelines and attribute sign off/target information
- Develop new processes and methodologies to enhance Whole Vehicle – Acoustics capability and competence
- Delivery of the attribute target level performance and levelling with Production and Quality

The Acoustics Team are responsible for the delivery of all NVH attributes (Aero-acoustics, Road Noise, Ride Comfort, Powertrain, Sound Quality, Squeak & Rattle, Powered Ancillaries) across the entire Bentley portfolio. About You – Skills And Experience
- Experience in Acoustic/NVH Acquisition and analysis techniques and ability to apply in in one or more of the key attribute areas of Aero-acoustics, Road Noise, Powered Ancillaries, Ride Comfort, Powertrain and Sound Quality
- Experience of Sound Quality development via intake and exhaust development and/or AVAS & EV active Sound design and Functional Sound development would be advantageous
- Acoustic simulation experience
- Subjective evaluation skills
- Jury evaluation studies
- Product Development experience from Concept to Engineering Sign Off
- Ability to plan, organise, prioritise and manage multiple tasks and deliver within project constraints
- A degree in Mechanical/Automotive/Acoustics engineering or equivalent experience
