HSBC HBEU Operational Resilience are a global team of c.35 FTE’s who provide support for 9 markets in both their compliance to local resilience regulations and global resilience frameworks. As well as providing flexible support to each of the markets, this team are responsible for providing a cross-market view by sharing insights, driving efficiencies, executing resilience testing, and ensuring a consistent standard is achieved across all HBEU markets.


In this fantastic, new, senior role, you will report into the Head of Operational Resilience, HSBC Bank Plc & Europe. This is a rare opportunity to work across both PRA Supervisory Statement SS1/21 and the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA)


The key aspect to your role will be to lead a Governance & Reporting team, ensuring that operational resilience, as a management priority, is properly reported through governance channels across HBEU markets. This will include defining and maintaining the MI provided within regular reporting, supporting the preparation of governance documentation, and supporting management discussions at both a market, and HBEU level.


In this role you will:

  • Lead the preparation of governance reporting to senior HBEU governance committees.
  • Support the preparation of governance reporting to local HBEU market governance committees.
  • Own standardised governance documentation, identifying opportunities for uplift to enhance management ability to oversee and mange resilience.
  • Where required, deliver, or support the presentation of governance reporting to senior stakeholders.
  • Define, and oversee the ongoing delivery of MI to provide an effective overview of operational resilience and demonstrate compliance to both local regulatory requirements and global frameworks, within and across HBEU markets.
  • Regularly review MI to produce data insights, identify trends, and common themes. Ensure these insights are properly reported across relevant governance channels and collaborate with the HBEU Vulnerability Management team to ensure these are actioned to improve underlying resilience.


To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • SME level experience writing and presenting exco level governance papers within a Financial Services Environment
  • Advanced level ability to identify and assess risks that could impact business operations and designing tests to evaluate the effectiveness of mitigation strategies.
  • Advanced background in any of the following: Regulatory standards and concepts within Operational Resilience, IT Risk Management, Business Continuity or Enterprise Risk Management.
  • Advanced ability to lead a team of professionals of multiple levels of seniority, foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, and establish a delivery-mindset.
  • Experienced in regular interaction and liaison with regulators.
  • Knowledge and experience relating to the PRA Supervisory Statement SS1/21 and/or the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) is welcomed.


This role can be based in Edinburgh, Sheffield, or Birmingham on a hybrid basis.
