Your role in the Team

We are seeking an experienced leader to deliver initiatives that optimise and govern critical operations monitoring and analysis across the organisation.

In this key position, you will implement a proactive framework to drive operational excellence across our organisation. Your role will involve consolidating fragmented processes and establishing clear ownership and accountability to mitigate the risk of unauthorised changes and errors. You will monitor processes against established KPIs and SLAs while ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements. A critical aspect of your responsibilities will be maintaining robust audit trails throughout our operations through the documentation of workflows and operating procedures.

This role combines analytical skills with stakeholder management to ensure processes are efficient, controlled, and aligned with group objectives.

The position offers a unique opportunity to shape a critical new team within our organisation. Your work will significantly impact our operational efficiency, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance, positioning you as a key driver of change and improvement in our business practices.

Key Responsibilities

Consolidation and Framework Development

  • Conduct a comprehensive review to identify areas where operational monitoring processes are fragmented across teams and departments.
  • Develop and implement a cohesive strategy to unify operations monitoring and management under a single, streamlined structure.
  • Create and maintain a "golden source" for all operational data, ensuring data integrity and consistency across the organisation.
  • Design and implement a robust, proactive control framework that encompasses all aspects of operations monitoring, analysis, and governance.

Control Framework Implementation

  • Develop and oversee implementation of preventative and detective controls to mitigate operational and conduct risks, with a particular focus on preventing unauthorised changes to critical business settings, parameters, and processes.
  • Establish clear protocols and approval processes for any changes to monitoring, ensuring proper authorisation and documentation.
  • Partner with compliance to stay abreast of regulatory requirements across all relevant authorities and ensure full compliance in all practices.
  • Lead initiatives to proactively adapt our processes and systems to upcoming regulatory changes, minimising compliance, and operational risks.

Process Improvement and Reporting

  • Continuously evaluate existing operational monitoring processes, identifying areas for improvement and efficiency gains.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for all relevant processes, policies, and frameworks, ensuring clarity and accessibility for all stakeholders.
  • Design and implement robust audit trails for all operational activities, enabling easy tracking and review of all changes and approvals.
  • Oversee the development of data analysis and reporting mechanisms to track the commercial impact of operational changes and process improvements.
  • Implement and refine cost-benefit analysis processes for operational initiatives, ensuring optimal business outcomes.

Leadership and Stakeholder Management

  • Chair and manage relevant committees, ensuring effective decision-making and governance.
  • Foster collaboration and clear communication between previously siloed teams, including front office, back office, commercial and support functions.
  • Work closely with senior leadership across various departments to ensure alignment and buy-in for new processes and frameworks.
  • Provide regular, comprehensive updates and reports to executive management on the status of operational monitoring, regulatory adherence, and progress on consolidation efforts.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team dedicated to operations monitoring excellence, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

What You’ll Need For This Role

  • Educational background in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
  • Approximately 6 years of experience in financial services, including around 4 years in a senior role managing complex, cross-functional process improvements. We value diverse career paths and recognize that skills can be acquired through various experiences.
  • Comprehensive understanding of financial markets, trading operations, and regulatory requirements related to operations monitoring and best execution across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing control frameworks, process improvements, and change management initiatives in a financial services environment.
  • Experience in consolidating fragmented processes and implementing systematic approaches to financial operations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data insights into actionable strategies and clear communications.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across multiple departments and levels of seniority.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences.

Personal Attributes

  • Proactive and self-motivated, with a strong drive to transform reactive processes into proactive systems and a passion for operational excellence.
  • Strategic thinker with the capacity to see the bigger picture.
  • Adaptable and resilient, comfortable leading significant organisational and process changes.
  • Strong ethical standards and unwavering commitment to regulatory compliance and data integrity.
  • High attention to detail, particularly in matters of documentation, audit trails, and systematic process design.
  • Ability to drive consensus among diverse stakeholders, balancing multiple priorities and interests.

This position offers significant growth potential for the right candidate who can effectively tackle the challenge of transforming our operations monitoring and governance approach.
