About The Role

We have a unique and interesting opportunity within our Restructuring and Insolvency team. The R&I team act for lenders, companies, directors, and insolvency practitioners, ensuring businesses survive, keeping job losses to a minimum and ensuring creditors get as much money back as possible.

Given the diversity of the field, this is a great opening for someone interested in pursuing a legal career to build a strong foundation of transferable knowledge. This apprenticeship would see you working closely with our appreciable team of experts, carrying many years of experience in their field. You will develop fundamental legal knowledge and practical skills, while being able to make a real contribution to the work of the team at an early stage.

Responsibilities Of a Paralegal Apprentice

  • Undertaking legal research, using appropriate methods and sourcing, presenting the results in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Carry out routine legal research on caselaw updates at the request of a supervisor.
  • Drafting legal documents using appropriate precedents and templates under supervision.
  • Prepare and complete (including conflict checks) the Matter opening form, ensuring that the relevant fee earner completes the parts outside the remit of your role.
  • Ensure all work complies with risk management policies and procedures, in line with GDPR.
  • Take accurate attendance notes on client calls and meetings.
  • Preparing court bundles.

About You

Apprentices must be over 18 years old and live in England. This apprenticeship is not a suitable route for those already with a University Degree. Applicants with an existing degree cannot be considered for this role.

This Paralegal Apprenticeship is a 24-month programme and will require a minimum of six hours per week off-the-job learning. The Paralegal apprenticeship is intended to be a destination in its own right but can also be considered as a stepping stone onto multiple progression routes, please review the CILEX website to learn more about apprenticeship routes.

The Right Candidate Will

  • Be A-Level Qualification or equivalent.
  • Act professionally and ethically to ensure you are acting in the best interests of the client.
  • Demonstrate a sound IT knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Work collaboratively with other, willing to get stuck into new things and take a proactive approach to work.
  • Great organisation skills with the ability to multi-task, handle changing priorities and volume workloads is a pre-requisite for this role.
  • Demonstrate excellent attention to detail in all aspects of your work.
  • Resilience and the ability to complete tasks against deadlines.
  • Act with integrity when handling confidential information.
