We are looking for an Architect to take ownership and lead the architecture of our Pricing Systems. This role involves defining the strategy to support business objectives and collaborating closely with engineering delivery teams to develop solutions that achieve desired business outcomes.

The role
This is an architect position within the Future Design department, focusing on IG Core Technology Pricing Systems. These low latency and high throughput systems include market data feeds, price calculators, and price distribution systems that are involved in the pricing of IG markets globally.
In This Role, You Will
- Define and evolve pricing system architecture, ensuring it aligns with IG Group's strategy.
- Develop long-term renovation strategies.
- Assess impact and propose solutions for business-led projects.
- Liaise with business experts and development teams to refine solutions.
- Collaborate with development teams throughout the project lifecycle, from inception to delivery.
- Contribute to architectural strategies in other areas of Core Technology.
- Present architectural vision to broader audiences across the business.
What You’ll Do
- Define and maintain the architectural vision of the Pricing systems, including comprehensive documentation of the current state and an evolution roadmap towards target architecture.
- Collaborate with other architects to influence enterprise architecture, define integration patterns and ensure solutions adhere to design best practices.
- Liaise closely with stakeholders (business & technical) to provide Feasibility studies, Blueprints, and High-Level Designs, addressing the non-functional requirements in the designs developed.
- Work with the stakeholders to provide Solution Architecture support for the technology platforms. Support the Engineering teams in the delivery of projects in the Pricing domain.
- Assist in planning and estimating for delivery projects, as well as lead the selection process for necessary software and infrastructure.
- Liaise with the technical communities to ensure that all design and implementation risks are identified and addressed and obtain architecture authority approval wherever necessary.

What You’ll Need
This is not a hands-on coding role but candidates should have several years of hands-on development experience.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 8-10 years of industry experience, including 5 years in a hands-on development role (ideally C++ in low-latency systems).
- Minimum 3-5 years in an architecture role or in a technical lead role with responsibility for solution design.
- Ability to think and communicate both big-picture high-level views and technical detail; open to incorporating others’ views.
- Strong analytical skills; able to structure large amounts of detail.
- Experience in developing architectural specifications, analysis, and design.
- Experience in low latency high-performance processing, messaging technologies and architectures.
- Experience with modern SDLC methodologies Full development lifecycle experience using an agile methodology.
- Demonstrable experience of working effectively within a matrix organisation that encompasses employees, specialist contractors and 3rd party suppliers and partners.
- Experience working in a geographically dispersed team
- Experience working in a highly regulated industry, ideally in the financial sector or an IT industry with trading system experience, especially in pricing systems, and OTC/Exchange-traded derivative products.
- Ability to think and act strategically but also to operate and implement change tactically when required, dealing effectively with ambiguity and managing changeable business priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills, particularly adept at simplifying and articulating complex topics and employing a wide range of communication styles to engage with all levels of the organisation.
- Desirable experience in C++, design of low latency and high throughput systems, distributed systems, market data feeds, market making, CI/CD, AWS
- Desirable knowledge of architecture frameworks, e.g. TOGAF
