Carbon Zero Consulting, part of the
RSK Group is currently recruiting for a
Principal Ground Source Heat Pump Consultant, based in
Birmingham, UK. There is some flexibility and
hybrid working will be considered for the right candidate..
The Consultant would have a specific focus on managing the work load of the team and undertaking, managing and reporting on field work activities throughout the UK, such as borehole drilling, soil and water sampling, thermal response tests and groundwater pump tests. Responsibilities would vary according to previous experience levels, it would be suitable for a senior level consultant looking to grow into the role of team leader.
Responsibilities: - Managing the team’s workload and acting as team leader (or working toward’s this goal)
- Managing a variety of geo-environmental and/or geotechnical projects for both external clients and for other teams within RSK
- Providing technical and scientific support at all stages of assigned projects and controlling project costs
- Facilitating growth of the team
- Preparing proposals and tenders and contribute to business development activity
- Undertaking, supervising or reviewing (depending on experience) field work activities throughout the UK, such as borehole drilling, soil and water sampling, thermal response tests and groundwater pump tests in line with national standards and codes of practice
- Managing fieldwork activities and subcontractors (depending on experience)
- Undertaking Project Management duties and resolving any technical issues
- Writing factual and/or interpretative reports
- Travel to other offices and sites within the UK (as needed)
- Preparing and checking technical notes, drawings and geotechnical and/or geo-environmental reports
Qualifications and Experience:
- BSc degree level qualified in Geology, Geophysics or Earth Science, or related subject.
- Interest in renewable energy technologies and their application
- Computer literate and skilled with Microsoft Office applications, in particular Word, Excel, GIS and PowerPoint.
- Full UK driving licence
- Background in Geoscience circa 10 years+
- Reasonable knowledge of borehole design, drilling, testing and regulation.
- Ideally ‘deep’ drilling, i.e. not just SI
- Good knowledge of UK geology
- Some background in water chemistry/quality
- Ideally a good working knowledge of closed & open-loop, but significant hands-on experience not essential
- Technically minded, good wide range of field experience
- Able to lead a small team, but with the energy to grow numbers significantly as the GSHP sector grows
- Excellent ability to network within RSK and externally
- Business development; ability to spot opportunities within RSK and externally
Salary and Benefits:
- £ 30-45K, dependent on experience;
