The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining manufacturing processes to increase efficiency, reduce costs, improve sustainability, and maximize profitability. This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams, including design, quality, and production teams, to ensure that manufacturing systems are effective and meet the company's production goals.


Job Accountability

Process Design and Improvement:

  • Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing processes.
  • Design and implement process flow and layout strategies to optimize production efficiency.
  • Analyze production workflows and identify areas for improvement.

Production Support:

  • Provide technical support to production teams to resolve manufacturing issues.
  • Collaborate with production personnel to troubleshoot problems and develop solutions.
  • Ensure that manufacturing processes are compliant with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Quality Control:

  • Develop and implement quality control systems and standards to maintain product quality.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Work closely with the quality assurance team to ensure product meets customer specifications.

Equipment and Tooling:

  • Specify, select, and oversee the installation of new manufacturing equipment.
  • Maintain and improve existing equipment to enhance productivity.
  • Design and procure tooling and fixtures required for manufacturing processes.

Cost Reduction:

  • Analyze manufacturing costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles and techniques to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
  • Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to optimize material usage.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and process flow diagrams.
  • Prepare reports on manufacturing performance, including productivity, efficiency, and quality metrics.
  • Document changes to manufacturing processes and ensure all modifications are updated in relevant systems.

Project Management:

  • Lead and manage projects aimed at improving manufacturing processes or introducing new products.
  • Develop project timelines, resource plans, and budgets.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing environment.
  • Stay updated with the latest manufacturing technologies and industry trends.
  • Conduct training sessions for production staff on new processes or equipment.


What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should bring:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field or an equivalent qualification and relevant industrial experience.
  • Experience: Substantial experience in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, or a similar role ideally within process plant, HVAC, capital equipment, large infrastructure projects involving multi-disciplinary electro-mechanical facets.
  • Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials including fabrication, welding, structural steel, building construction and associated trade disciplines ideally in the modular build arena.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and other engineering tools.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous process improvement methodologies in a low volume, high value manufacturing environment.
  • Capability to define manufacturing and quality related standards and documentation to minimise process and product quality variation. Used to originating visual standards, SOPs and work instructions and delivering training to skilled personnel.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail with a continuous mind set for spotting quality and cost related improvements.
  • Liaison with Procurement and strategic suppliers to achieve product cost improvements and labour saving activity.
  • Implementation of tooling, fixtures and modular methodology to reduce labour and improve takt time.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
