Salary: Circa £45
,000 depending on experience
Dynamic (hybrid) working:
4 or 5 days per week on-site due to workload classification

The opportunity:
As a Principle Process Engineer within the RF Assembly manufacturing facility you will be responsible for the day to day leadership of an engineering team in manufacturing Bolton. You will be responsible for managing project and functional workloads to ensure completion and delivery on time through the team, leading continuous improvement activities, representing the manufacturing team at various forums. Furthermore, it is a leadership role that involves people management; sickness & absence, appraisals, holidays, work load, dynamic working arrangements and individual output. The focus of your team will be to ensure that our products are manufactured efficiently, with state of the art equipment and processes that you will take ownership of. Current programmes will need to be maintained whilst also introducing new products – all to time, cost and quality objectives. Keeping a finger on the pulse of emerging technologies.
Working with the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Support Senior Process Engineers in their day-to-day roles and responsibilities, managing team work load, priorities, and key problems ensuring delivery on time.
- Promote continuous improvement throughout the team and lead CI work packages.
- Define manufacturing architecture to operate lean principles, whilst also compiling business cases for process improvements and factory of the future concepts.
- Assume the responsibilities for safe operation of new and established processes, including liaising with COSHH assessors and SHE.
- Collaborate with the design authority during the product prototype and development phase, to ensure optimised Design for Manufacture (DfM), or in the production phase for change implementation.
- Interpret CAD data and design requirements to generate machine programs/processes which meet the design intent.
- Project manage equipment procurement or upgrade from selection through to installation, commissioning and specification of maintenance requirements.
- Conduct cost/benefit analysis for changes to processes and/or equipment.
- Drive and monitor departmental improvement in order to make a positive impact on time, cost and quality of the processes within your sphere of influence.
- Liaise with the Quality Engineering team to investigate root cause of non-conformance and implement robust corrective actions.
- Produce and maintain documentation such as requirement specifications, operating procedures, maintenance schedules, training records, risk assessments and FMEAs.
- Provide support/training to operations staff and peers to enable effective use of equipment and processes.
What we're looking for from you:
- Formal technical Engineering/Craft Apprenticeship to NVQ Level 3 and Formal further education certificate to HNC or equivalent in a relevant subject or BEng in relevant Engineering or Science Degree
- Experience and a strong working knowledge of the manufacture of RF assemblies, die placement, ATV / Epoxy die attach, wire / ribbon bonding, plasma cleaning, gap welding, optical inspection.
- Knowledge of these processes and techniques in a manual and automated environment would be desirable.
- Be highly motivated and hard-working, to create/maintain a high performing team.
- Must demonstrate a proactive approach to process improvements.
- Must be confident in people leadership and holding effective team/individual discussions.
