Our Private Client Team works with individuals, trustees, partnerships, sole traders and family businesses in managing their tax affairs both on the compliance side and in relation to additional advisory matters. We work closely with colleagues across the firm to provide a joined-up service to owner managed businesses and family offices combining expertise in accounting, audit and all relevant taxes.
About The Role
The purpose of this role is to manage and deliver a thorough and high-quality tax compliance and advisory service to a range of clients. The includes managing and developing more junior members of the team whilst reviewing their work. You will work with the partner and other colleagues on a variety of planning projects and technical assignments, and have the opportunity to get involved in business development and networking.

Responsibilities:
- Acting as the main point of contact for tax clients and responding quickly to clients.
- Managing the tax compliance process for a range of clients, including reviewing technical work for more junior members of the team and ensuring work is completed efficiently and in accordance with the firm’s procedures.
- Liaising with clients throughout the year and practising the principles of excellent client service at all times.
- Identifying and advising on tax planning opportunities.
- Acting as people manager to junior staff, including taking an active role in their development and appraisals.
- Leading and undertaking specialist technical assignments as required.
- Working alongside Partners and/or Directors to help develop new business within the team and build on existing relationships.
- Managing assignments in accordance with the firm’s standard procedures and confirming arrangements with the client, including likely costs and billing arrangements.
- Ensuring the work meets targeted recovery and billing clients on a timely basis.
- Ensuring appropriate liaison takes place with all other departments, and all potential client needs are identified and serviced accordingly.
- Briefing junior staff on the client’s business and the pre-assignment instructions; supervising and controlling the completion of work; and undertaking ‘on the job’ training where necessary.
- Attending staff meetings and training as required.
- Carrying out any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job, the title of the role and its grading, as requested by the line manager, Head of Department or any partner.
- Maintaining an awareness and observation of Health and Safety issues within the Firm and reporting any concerns to the Health and Safety Representative.
About The Ideal Candidate
This role will suit someone who is looking for an environment where they will have opportunity to accelerate their knowledge and skills in a creative, entrepreneurial and supportive team, working with lots of fantastic clients along the way. You will have existing experience managing a portfolio of personal tax compliance and advisory projects whilst being confident at developing and maintaining relationships internally and externally.
Ideally, you will also have proven experience of mentoring and developing junior members of staff. An interest in and/or aptitude for business development is advantageous. Opportunities for progression are open for the right candidate with excellent support for training and development needs.
- Preferably CTA qualified and/or experience at Manager level.
- Strong understanding and practical experience of the tax issues relating to a range of private clients.
- Proven experience in client handling and project management.
- Proven tax experience in producing high quality work within budget.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
