Product Manager

JOB TITLE:                    Product Manager – Terminal BL 

LOCATION:                    Manchester, UK

 REPORTING TO:          R & D Director 

 DIRECT REPORTS:       None 

 TRAVEL:                        Some UK and International travel may be required 

JOB PURPOSE:             To oversee the lifecycle of software products tailored for airport operations and management. This role involves understanding market, industry & customer needs, defining product vision, and ensuring that the software solutions delivers commercial value, solves problems and delivers a tangible return on investment. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Accountable for defining the product strategy, vision, and roadmap, including timelines for the development of new products, features, and services. 

• Develop and communicate compelling value propositions and key messages based on identified problem statements, translating them into new product ideas or enhancements. 

• Define the product strategy and vision, aligning with business owners and key stakeholders to ensure business value is maximized. 

• Share knowledge and experience with other members of the Products team to develop a common understanding and approach to product direction and development. 

• Manage third-party partnerships by defining requirements, prioritizing needs, and coordinating product development and other activities with external partners. 

• Deliver user requirement documents and functional specifications with prioritized features and justifications. 

• Provide expert support and product materials to the business development team, positioning ADB Safegate to win new business with a market-leading proposition. 

• Conduct regular training and briefings for internal regional teams on product updates. 

• Define, coordinate, and implement an effective 'go to market' strategy for the products, including an evolving marketing plan. 

• Collaborate with the Marketing team on product positioning, messaging, and gathering market intelligence for new products. 

• Prepare and deliver presentations at trade shows, exhibitions, conferences, and customer events worldwide. 

• Prepare and organize product demonstrations to win opportunities. 

• Interact directly with customers to understand their requirements and gather feedback for product development and enhancements. 

• Monitor industry trends, competition, and market conditions to ensure the product remains relevant and competitive. 

• Identify and evaluate new product ideas or enhancements based on customer input, market needs, and internal feedback. 

• Facilitate co-innovation with customers to validate key features and prioritize them based on effort and business impact 

ADDITIONAL AREAS OF INVOLVEMENT 

• Track the product(s) P&L, revenue, new business, and profitability, including competitive pricing to achieve desired sales volumes/optimized profit. 

• Define appropriate metrics to gather an analyse customer feedback e.g. NPS. 

• Manage the budget for your area of responsibility, including capacity planning with R&D teams. 

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS 

Essential: 

• Product Management - Airport or airline industry knowledge and experience 

• In depth knowledge of systems which are used to implement business processes in the airport and airline environment. 

• Good working knowledge of Product Management methodologies (e.g. Stage Gate) as well as Product Development methodologies 

• Strong presentation skills with the ability to hold an audience; 

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to negotiate with and influence a broad range of stakeholders at all levels; 

• Ability to communicate technical information to a business user and translate business process requirements into technical solutions design; 

Desirable: 

• Experience of budget and requirements management. 

• A demonstrated track record of success in delivering lasting results in a global business environment and within a technology solutions-based business 

• Innovation skills and a track record of significant experience in defining market requirements and functional specifications.
