At the IET, making our world a better place starts by creating a better place for our people. At the IET you’ll have more than just a job. Our work is exciting and challenging, connecting the people who solve the problems that matter. It means working with us has real meaning and impact, and you’ll grow – professionally and personally – in ways you never thought possible. We’re also making significant investments in our people, including providing a modern, vibrant workplace and embracing hybrid working.
What you’ll be doing
In this role, you will lead the strategic development of the IET’s End Point Assessment services (EPA), Education and Training Accreditation, and Awards, Scholarships and Prizes offerings, ensuring they align with the IET’s strategic goals and meet the evolving needs of the engineering industry. You will focus on designing new services and growing an already established and successful portfolio, ensuring it continues to resonate with apprenticeship providers, employers, academic institutions, and professional members, alongside supporting career development and professional standards.
A key aspect of this role will involve market analysis and stakeholder engagement to identify growth opportunities across regions and engineering disciplines for our product offerings. You will also develop assessment mechanisms aligned with apprenticeship standards for EPA and you will collaborate with industry, academia, and regulatory bodies to ensure that the IET’s offerings reflect the latest industry requirements. By leveraging insights from your industry experience, you will shape offerings that are practical, relevant, and impactful, fostering alignment with professional engineering standards.
Additionally, you will have the opportunity to represent the IET’s interests on external groups, such as employer trailblazer groups, regulators, and professional engineering institutions, advocating for the alignment of vocational education and apprenticeships with engineering standards. Furthermore, you will also oversee the development and enhancement of our Awards and Prizes programmes, ensuring they continue to engage students, apprentices, members, and donors, whilst also identifying new opportunities for growth in collaboration with the Fundraising team.
The role of Product Manager will also encompass monitoring the performance of these portfolios through metrics and dashboards, defining roadmaps, and ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and budgetary requirements. You will work closely with internal teams across Sales, Operations, and Technology, as well as international colleagues, to drive innovation, manage risks, and ensure efficient delivery of services.
What we hope you can bring to the role
We are looking for a candidate with industry and education sector insights , combined with an understanding of the challenges and opportunities in developing impactful accreditation and professional development offerings. You will have a proven ability to translate sector needs into innovative solutions that align with our strategic objectives as a professional membership body.
Your commercial acumen and strategic thinking will enable you to identify new opportunities, influence stakeholders, and drive the growth of our EPA, accreditation, and awards portfolio. Given the nature of the role, a good understanding of regulatory requirements is needed, including those of the Engineering Council and Ofqual, as is experience navigating complex compliance landscapes.
Working across multiple IET product offerings, you will develop product strategies and define the resources necessary for their success including assessment mechanisms and guidance.. Your ability to conduct market research, analyse data, and leverage insights will also play an important role in helping to shape strategies that position the IET as a leader in professional standards and excellence.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills are critical, as you will engage with diverse stakeholders, including apprentices, academic institutions, corporate partners, and regulatory bodies. Fluency in additional languages or familiarity with international contexts would be an advantage, as would the willingness to travel to support the development of these offerings. Above all, however, you will be motivated to deliver meaningful change and innovation, helping the IET to empower the next generation of engineering professionals.
