Introduction
AZ’s Cambridge Campus and Corporate Affairs team is seeking a Programme Communications Manager to help drive a robust, long-term communications strategy to engage AZ employees and external collaborators in the future vision for AZ’s Cambridge campus. This role will be critical in the delivery of communications and engagement campaigns that bring to life the benefits of our future vision for AZ employees and the community in Cambridge and beyond; convey the value of our plans for the CBC, Cambridge, and the UK; and support a strategic drumbeat of awareness and engagement across multiple years of development.
- Responsibility for day-to-day communication management and support for a programme of capital investments across our “Southern Sites” – focused on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus; including scientific, workplace and amenity capabilities.
- Supporting the programme team with communication expertise through relevant design, construction, commissioning, handover, and operational stand-up activities of the programme.
- Communication Support and coordinate through development of detailed planning and readiness activities in building handover, IT service provision, and preparedness for future steady state operations. Working alongside and coordinating with teams involved in occupation, change management & operational service delivery.
Accountabilities
As a member of the Cambridge Biomedical Campus (CBC) Development Programme Office team within the Estates & Capital Development function, you will work in close partnership with Site Operations and Global Corporate Affairs (GCA) to lead the delivery of communication and engagement strategies for the Cambridge campus development programme. Reporting to the Senior Director, Cambridge Communications (GCA) and with a dotted line to the Associate Director, CBC Development Programme Office, you will play a key role in driving impactful internal and external communications to inspire, engage, and update stakeholders on the future vision and progress of the campus.
Other Responsibilities will include:
- Leads delivery of communication and engagement strategy for Cambridge campus development programme, developing plans for each internal/external initiative and overseeing execution/dissemination to intended audience.
- Supports dissemination across multiple audiences potentially including AZ Cambridge/UK employees and partners, CBC partners, external Cambridge/UK stakeholders such as governmental and business/community bodies and the public.
- Oversee content collection as development progresses, potentially including photography and videography as required, outlining vision and assets necessary to capture and partnering with external agencies/partners to execute.
- Work with external agencies as required on imagery needed to accompany communications (e.g. graphics, GIFs)
- Ensure communications are unified/on-message and pushed through the appropriate channels (primarily digital)
- Supports monitoring of CBC and Cambridge developments that may enhance or impact our communications.
- Handles internal review process for initiatives and materials, ensuring appropriate agreement and sign-off.
- Develops event management plans and oversees logistics for external or internal events as determined, including invitees, RSVPs, security, and catering.
- Collects internal and external feedback and feeds this upward to monitor effectiveness of current programme, optimise future programme and spark creative ideas to support engagement and positive sentiment.
- Works in partnership with AZ Estates & Capital Development, Site Operations and Cambridge Communications teams and maintains constant link with external development partners including architecture and construction firms.
- Collaborates closely with Cambridge Communications team, and with colleagues in other Corporate Affairs functions to ensure consistency and effectiveness of messages, including BioPharma/Oncology Corporate Affairs, UK Corporate Affairs/Government Relations, Global Media Relations.
- Handles own work to ensure that assignments are delivered on time, within budget and to high standard of quality.

- Experience in a communications role

Desirable Skills/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in journalism, communication, marketing, or related field
- Experience working in large, matrixed organisations across multiple teams
- Prior experience supporting estates and capital development or site operations projects
- Experience in the pharmaceutical industry
- Experience in a customer-facing role
