The STERIS Instrument Processing (IP), Europe, Middle East and Asia (EMEA), is focused on delivery of outsourced Decontamination Services for reusable surgical instruments. Decontamination Services incorporates the cleaning, inspection and sterilization of surgical instruments and requires STERIS IP to operate from dedicated facilities that meet all current standards and regulatory requirements.
What You Will Do
We are currently recruiting for an Project Management (PMO) vacancy to sit within this part of the business, and provide project management and support in the development, planning and execution of new service mobilisations and transition of services. The role will include supporting the Business Development, and Operations teams & the wider Project Management Office team in the preparation of tender responses, through contract development, to implementation and transition.
The Project Manager’s role will also include support to the wider Project Management Office team for the construction, refurbishment and facility fit-out of both new and existing Sterile Services facilities within STERIS IP as appropriate. Typically, the facilities are either fit out of an existing shell, which requires significant internal construction and installation of plant and processing equipment or, the refurbishment and fit out of an existing Sterile Services Department within an NHS hospital.
The Project Manager will work within STERIS IP’ DEPM team and will report directly to the Project Director.

- The coordination and completion of projects on time, within budget and within scope.
- Coordination of internal resources and third parties/ vendors for project delivery.
- Manage the relationships for all stakeholders: STERIS, 3rd parties and suppliers/ contractors, and customers in NHS sites.
- Assist in the definition of the project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure resource availability and allocation.

- Oversee all aspects of the projects to ensure that:
- Deadlines are met.
- Assigned responsibilities are undertaken by the assignee.
- Monitor and report progress of the project against the developed and agreed project plan using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
- Prepare project status update reports for management team.
- Highlight risk events and issues that adversely impact project programme and cost and escalate to management as needed.
- Perform risk management to minimise project risks.
- Develop and track budgets.
- Identify opportunities to improve the programme, reduce cost and escalate to management as needed.
- Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and costs using required verification and approval processes.
Education Degree
Required Experience
- Demonstrable, successful experience in the management of contract mobilisation and service related projects.
- A sound knowledge and understanding of quality compliance, standards and regulatory requirements in respect to the Healthcare or Life Sciences.
- Experience of managing budgets.
- Excellent all-round communication skills, written and verbal, for both internal and external clients.
- Excellent organisational skills, including attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, demonstrable experience of project management software, e.g. Microsoft Project, Smartsheet (latter used by STERIS IP).
Preferred Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field, for example Medical Engineering, Medical Devices Technology, Instrumentation, or comparable Engineering or Science based subject or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge or experience of working with the NHS or in the Medical Devices industries.
- Project management qualification, Project Management Professional (PMP), PRINCE II certification.
