RPS Laboratories are seeking a Quality Officer to join our team, acting as the backbone of our commitment to excellence. As a Quality Officer, you will be an essential part of the team that is responsible for establishing, maintaining and improving the Quality Management System and RPS’s scope of accreditation under ISO17025. This is a permanent, full time role and will be based onsite at our laboratory in Bedford.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Provide support to the Quality Manager to ensure that all aspects of the Quality Management System are adhered to within the laboratory.
  • Review the suitability of quality critical suppliers, conduct internal and external audits, and assist in hosting regulatory inspections.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring and support to the wider Laboratory team in a friendly and constructive manner.
  • Monitor and assess routine laboratory quality checks and calibrations.
  • Coordinate induction to all new personnel and provide training as required.
  • Monitor and maintain register for suppliers and sub-contractors and equipment inventory.
  • Maintain Proficiency Testing documentation and logs.
  • Assist the Quality Manager in investigating non-conforming work and conducting internal audits.
  • Ensure Quality documentation is up to date and reflects practice.

Who We’re Looking For

  • BSc in Chemistry or a closely related subject, or equivalent industrial experience.
  • Demonstrable experience of working within a Quality Management System ideally in an accredited testing laboratory.
  • Experience of performing internal audits, agreeing, and raising actions and working with the analytical teams in the closing of those actions.
  • Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and/or other regulatory systems (GLP/GMP, ISO 9001:2015 ISO/EIC 17020; ISO 15189).
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and influence effectively at different levels within an organisation.
  • Problem solving skills to support the laboratory in investigations and action closure.
  • Strongly developed organisational skills.
