Regional Engineering Manager

Location: UK, Midlands or Northwest preferably (weekly travel to our sites across the UK)

To support our growth and transformation, we are recruiting for a Regional Engineering Manager to look after our sites in the UK.

What will you be doing?

As Regional Engineering Manager will oversee the Facility Engineering and Maintenance function.

You will be responsible for providing direction and operational support of all maintenance activities for refrigeration, facilities, and material handling equipment.

You will initially have four key areas of focus:

• Ensuring all safety inspections are done and equipment is assessed – refrigeration, automation, racking, docks, MHE, fire systems etc
• Selecting and managing suppliers for capex and opex - big suppliers for refrigeration and MHE, and smaller suppliers
• Delivering the annual capex plan and projects, ensuring processes are followed and multiple quotes are reviewed
• Reviewing and developing the engineering team according to the business needs, reflecting the balance of work in automation, fridge plant, conveyors etc
• Regular energy reviews at sites in conjunction with the Europe team to continuously improve

Please note: this role will require a minimum of 50% travel to facilities under your scope.

Who are we looking for?

To be successful in this position, we need you to have a strong tactical/strategic approach with an operational background.

You will have the ability to identify successes on one site and apply them to others as well as keep track of capex and opex across sites and make suggestions to optimise cost.

We need you to demonstrate experience in the following:

• Value added services (i.e. mechanized sortation, packing, picking)
• Ability to manage remotely and build a team spirit where all engineers can support and benefit from each other's experience
• Development and execution of strategy / annual plans (budget, operational performance, SOPs, etc.)
• Knowledge of contract management and SLA’s
• Metrics measurements (i.e. energy efficiency, quality, employee productivity, and safety)
• Employee training and development (technical/functional input)
• Continuous Improvement Quality process (i.e. Six Sigma, ISO, Lean)

We specialise in cold storage, so we need you to come from a similar industry with activities such as:

• Refrigeration, facility maintenance, warehouse automation systems, production plant engineering management
• Safety and efficiency program compliance
• Project management
