The Manager for Regulatory Operations reports to the Regulatory Operations Director and has a dual responsibility. Firstly, for the Operational Regulatory Change. They are encouraged to lead on Regulatory projects and initiatives, helping to ensure operations are support regulatory developments. They will also be responsible for developing, improving, and supporting the growth of the controls and tasks undertaken for the Regulatory regimes. In addition, they will be responsible for periodic reporting globally which is a BAU activity.

You will be expected to take the lead on designated projects and relationships as instructed by the Director of Regulatory Operations. They are also encouraged to be an authority in the Regulatory Operations support processes and will assist junior members as necessary. They will work with internal teams to ensure the accuracy of data within underlying systems (including the trading systems and data management systems) as related to those reporting processes under the applicable regulatory requirements.

As part of the Regulatory Operations management team, they are responsible for staying on top of regulatory developments and their impact on operational processes relating to regulatory requirements such as periodic submissions to regulators around the globe. The Manager would also be encouraged to deputise for the Director and represent the team when appropriate. Together, the Director and Manager are responsible for overseeing the ongoing changes to processes, procedures and operating models to deliver against regulatory obligations.

Key Responsibilities:

Change

  • Be the Operational lead for all Regulatory projects and initiatives, including the upcoming ESMA and FCA changes to Transaction Reporting
  • Accountable for requirements raised and their subsequent prioritisation
  • Participation in internal projects focused on process improvement and/or Industry/Regulatory change and product launches (Kaizen, DTCC, MarketWatch)
  • Take the lead role in the improvement of existing processes and controls and/or the creation of new process and controls
  • Help coordinate and participate in any UAT on Regulatory Reporting Controls
  • Support the current initiative to improve our overall approach to transaction reporting
  • Collaborate with Technology teams for systems changes required to fulfil our responsibilities and remove manual processes for existing and new obligations

Business as usual

  • People leader who heads up the team and has three direct reports
  • Accountable for periodic reporting. Ensuring all reports are submitted on time and are accurate.
  • Responsible for identifying ways to reduce risk and make improvements to the existing process

Controls

  • Accountable for control framework design and implementation per region and obligation
  • Accountable for drafting requirements and change requests for Regulatory Reporting controls globally
  • Significant emphasis, understanding and focus on ensuring Complete, Accurate and Timely Reporting
  • Proactively identify issues in advance of regulators, complete resolutions, and implement process improvements
  • Ensure reduction/avoidance of incorrect submissions/rejects to improve overall compliance with our regulatory responsibilities with National Competent Authorities and other regulatory bodies

Partner Management

  • Work closely with the Regulatory Reporting Product Managers for both FX and Equity to ensure Operational control requirements are assembled within projects
  • Collaborate with internal Stakeholders – Compliance, Risk, Business, Technology
  • Work in partnership with the wider Regulatory Operations team to help them administer change
  • Support the Transaction Reporting Governance Forum to provide insight into areas of development
  • Be kept up to date with industry changes and when requested attend relevant industry events and working groups

Key behaviours and skills:

  • Relevant industry experience and recent experience in a similar role (minimum 5 yrs)

  • Must be a confident teammate with good social skills and a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Knowledge and experience in operations roles and regulatory change
  • Worked in professional and customer-focused environments where detailed processes must be followed
  • Must be able to work to deadlines
  • Consistent track record to work with and instigate process change
  • Proficient in MS Office products
