Description
& Designated Safeguarding Officer (DSO) for the Diocese

Full time/37.5hrs - £64,500

Our new Safeguarding Director will lead, and build on, our safeguarding infrastructure, champion our commitment to the highest standards of safeguarding practice, and help us ensure that we are able to build on our commitment for a truly positive safeguarding culture in every corner of the diocese.

If you have extensive experience as a professional senior safeguarding practitioner and manager, we’d love to hear from you!

This is a brand new role which will bring vision, strategy, operational know-how and support. Our new Director will be able to create a new central safeguarding team and be part of the recruitment processes for our Caseworker, Trainer, and administrative support, early in 2025. We are advertising all roles at the same time so that potential applicants are able to gain a sense of our momentum and plans.

You may find it helpful to look at the Church of England’s National Safeguarding Standards framework which informs safeguarding policy and practice across the Church. https://www.churchofengland.org/safeguarding/national-safeguarding-standards

If you think this might be a role for you, and you’d like an informal conversation about it before applying, please contact Ruth O’Hagan who will arrange this for you (info@newcastle.anglican.org)

The closing date is 6th January at 9.30am and interviews will be held at the Newcastle Diocesan offices on 20th January 2025.

This is a role that sits within our safer recruitment practices and an Enhanced DBS will be required.
