Purpose of role:
Provision of principal designer role, CDM advisor and health & safety consultancy professional services to both internal and external clients. Further to this it is foreseeable that there will be the opportunity to deliver health & safety training, undertake audits and risk studies.
Key responsibilities:
- To discharge the duties of the principal designer or the CDM advisor role on a wide variety of projects across the South East Region
- Provide technical guidance to site based and/or office based staff and less experienced colleagues
- Visit sites to assess existing site hazards, working closely with clients to ensure information passed onto design and construction teams
- Maintain client relationship on a day-to-day basis, championing client’s safety programmes and set an example on behaviour, produce statutory documentation e.g. pre-construction information and health & safety file, alongside the appraisal of contractor’s documentation
- Attend design/progress meetings and undertaking site audits/inspections during the construction phase and the potential to chair buildability meetings, plus hazard meetings e.g. HAZCON’s or HAZOP’s.
Essential experience:
- Relevant Degree/ NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent)
- CMaPS & CMIOSH
- Worked on civil engineering construction projects in a health & safety consultancy role
- Working knowledge of Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015
- Driving license
- Good communication skills, trustworthy, team player
Desirable:
- CPD regularly updated, experience in health & safety training
- Environmental awareness qualification
- Site experience and understanding of design ideally within a flood, coastal & maritime environment
- Large project start up experience
