Job Summary:
The Programmes Delivery Lead - Team Lead is a senior position within the Cloud Delivery Practice – S/4HANA Public Cloud, a strategic growth area for NTT DATA Business Solutions. This role carries responsibility for the success of our projects—from estimation and planning through to execution, governance, and customer satisfaction.
The ideal candidate will possess expertise in project delivery, have experience in Professional Services and Software industries, and understand the challenges of delivering projects to a diverse and growing customer base.
This role focuses not only on delivering high-quality projects today but also on building for the future. Working closely with the Practice Director, you will develop and nurture a best-in-class delivery team across the S/4HANA Public Cloud product portfolio.
Team Leadership and People Management:
- Lead and manage a team of Cloud Delivery Project Managers, driving excellence in project execution, team development, and professional growth.
- Mentor and guide Project Managers in delivering complex projects successfully, particularly on SteerCo meetings, stakeholder management, and project escalations.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team, conducting regular performance reviews, coaching sessions, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Identify skills gaps and training needs to ensure the team remains aligned with delivery standards and project management methodologies.
- Inspire confidence and accountability across the team, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and meet the highest quality standards.
Project Delivery and Governance:
- Assume overall responsibility for the health and success of your project portfolio, ensuring delivery is on time, within budget, and aligned with quality expectations.
- Implement and maintain strong governance frameworks across all projects, ensuring consistent reporting, risk management, and proactive issue resolution.
- Ensure accurate and timely forecasting of project progress and resource utilisation, working with the Practice Director to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Drive project recovery where necessary by establishing a clear Path to Green for any Amber or Red projects, ensuring lessons learned are captured and applied to future deliveries.
- Lead project and programme reporting, presenting clear insights and recommendations to senior leadership and customer stakeholders.
Customer and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Engage with customers at an executive level, leading SteerCo meetings and maintaining proactive communication to ensure client satisfaction and alignment.
- Act as the escalation point for key projects, resolving complex challenges and building trusted, long-term relationships with customers.
- Promote NTT DATA’s S/4HANA Public Cloud solutions as part of a Cloud-first delivery mindset, ensuring customer success and generating future opportunities.
Operational Excellence:
- Meet and maintain a personal utilisation target of 60% while balancing leadership and team development responsibilities.
- Drive efficiency within project delivery through automation and improved processes, advising the Public Cloud Director on potential initiatives and programmes.
- Track and report on non-productive time across projects, working to minimise inefficiencies and optimise resource deployment.
- Collaborate with the Enterprise Team to align delivery methodologies, ensuring consistency and best practices across all programmes.
Business Improvement and Development:
- Work with the Practice Director to develop a future-ready delivery team that can adapt to evolving customer and market needs.
- Ensure all lessons learned are documented and applied to enhance project methodologies, delivery frameworks, and governance.
- Lead improvement initiatives across the practice, driving innovation, efficiency, and value creation for customers.
Required Skills / Abilities:
- Proven experience leading teams of Project Managers and successfully delivering multiple medium to large-scale projects.
- A minimum of 10 years’ project management experience, with a strong background in S/4HANA Public Cloud implementations or similar SAP solutions.
- Expertise in project governance, risk management, and executive-level stakeholder engagement.
- Strong leadership and mentoring abilities, with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
- Hands-on experience with Cloud ALM, project management tools, and delivery methodologies (Activate preferred).
- Demonstrable experience in recovering at-risk projects and delivering clear Path to Green strategies.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage at CxO level.
- A proactive and strategic mindset, capable of driving operational improvement and future growth.
- Willingness to travel across the UK as required, including working away from home.
