Description
The ICDS EHC Assessment Team are responsible for Facilitating the statutory Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP) Assessment process and for maintaining all EHCP's on behalf of the Local Authority, at present we are maintaining approximately 5350 EHCP's and are receiving an average of 40 plus new EHC Needs Assessment requests per week.

The SEND Education Pathway Officer is an exciting but critical role within the statutory EHC Needs Assessment process, and in progressing our service improvements.

We are currently recruiting a 0.6 (22.2hrs) SEND Education Pathway Officer (SEPO) to join our SEPO team and to support us on our improvement journey.

You Will Be Required To

To act as lead professional in decision making regarding EHC Needs Assessment Requests and make ; and to support the implementation of the graduated approach and provision of SEN Support for children and young people with SEND across a range of education settings including early years, mainstream and post 16 settings.

To act as the interface between the LA and education settings, ensuring that the graduated approach to supporting CYP with SEND across a range of settings has been applied and is fully understood when requests for EHC needs assessments are received by the LA.

To work in partnership with professionals, children, young people and their parents/carers, embedding co-production whilst using person centred approaches.

To manage requests for EHC Needs Assessment within the statutory timescales for Education, Health and Care assessment requests in accordance with the SEND Code of Practice 2015 and to improve the quality of decision making.

To provide appropriate challenge and support to education leadership teams and other professionals to support the development of inclusive practice and the universal adoption of the graduated approach.

Have a Excellent working knowledge and application of the Children and Families Act 2014, SEND Regulations 2015 and SEND Code of Practice 2014

To contribute and analyse information that is required where there is SEND appeal to Mediation and First Tier Tribunals.

To arrange and facilitate next steps meetings with settings and families following a no to assess decision

A high level of personal drive and commitment, and the ability to set an example to others.

To have knowledge and experience of using a range of case management systems and application of IT programmes including Microsoft Office, Teams, Outlook, EXCEL etc.

To work under pressure and to deadlines

The Person

We are looking for a highly motivated resilient worker with the ability to work under pressure. You will need to demonstrate your enthusiasm to improve services for children and young people with additional needs and be able to organise and manage your work within set statutory timescales. You will be highly skilled in communicating and negotiation with experience in working effectively with young people with additional needs, their parents/carers as well as a range of Education, Health and Social Care agencies and professionals. Above all else, you will demonstrate an ambition to support our young people in reaching their Aspirations.
