Salary - National (Edinburgh and Leeds) ranging from £51,200 to £64,000 and London £56,400 to £70,400 per annum (Salary offered will be based on skills and experience)

Supervision, Policy and Competition (SPC) focuses on market participants and cross market themes with all work contributing to the FCA’s strategic and operational objectives and leading on most of the 3 year strategic business priorities.
The Resolution & Insolvency Department is a specialist department which provides expert support when financial services firms are likely to fail or have failed. What we do is right at the heart of the FCA’s objectives and its public commitment to reducing harm from firm failure.

What will you be doing?
You Will Be Delivering On Complex Resolution And Insolvency Cases To Minimise Harm To Consumers Arising From Firm Failure, Including Where Firms Hold Client Money Or Assets Or Owe Large Amounts Of Redress To Consumers. This Includes
- Reviewing and questioning financial information and projections, identifying risks and areas of uncertainty, for example working with supervision colleagues to review wind down plans
- Working as a team to deliver results on complex resolution cases, in a mix of supervising and supporting roles, and taking sole responsibility for an allocation of simpler "business as usual" casework
- Contributing to a variety of non case-work operational workstreams
- Engaging with and influencing a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to develop and deliver the best outcome for consumers
- Partnering with colleagues around the FCA to create and deliver effective strategies for the resolution of failing firms
- Analysing and translating complex issues and making recommendations in a way that can be understood by non-technical audiences
- Analysing complex business models and firm issues and identifying and proposing solutions for issues arising in firm failure scenarios including options evaluation and contingency planning

Which skills are required?

Minimum
- Experience in accountancy or law, with experience in restructuring advisory (such as independent business reviews, options analysis or contingency planning) and insolvency
- Experience of Financial Services regulation, this could be from working at a regulated firm, supervising one or working as an advisor to regulated firms
- Excellent written communication skills
Essential
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, including dealing with a range of external parties
- Credible, persuasive communicator, able to communicate views positively and effectively to stakeholders inside and outside the organisation
- Sound judgement, including being prepared to advance well-reasoned views where limited or inconclusive information is available
- Demonstrable experience of managing a number of tasks and priorities at once
- Ability to work with others to achieve effective results
- Team-working skills - the nature of the department's work is highly collaborative
- Ability to build a strong network across the organisation and have the confidence to deliver, provide advice and question on a range of matters
