Senior Category Development Manager - 12 Month Fixed Term Contract
The Senior Category Development Manager is responsible for developing and implementing an effective category management strategy with strategic priority customers, to build a working trade partnership, delivering against CH UK business objectives to sustainably and profitably grow.
Please note this role is a 12 month fixed term contract.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- To tailor category strategies and implement customer category plans with strategic priority retail customers
- To provide actionable insight to retail customers in order to unlock incremental value growth.
- To develop and drive critical external relationships across strategic priority retail customer contacts from Buyers through to Senior Buyers and Merchandising/Planning contacts; adding value to both Bayer and our customers.
- To become a Trusted Advisor with strategic customers and provide winning ideas whilst being an agile can-do partner.
- Responsible for developing and leveraging customer relationships to maximise Bayer’s range, position and shelf space through utilising Category Management principles but also challenging the macro store environment and flow of products.
- To deliver promotional and fixture analysis as well as strategic reviews of the category across the customer base.
- Manage the understanding of competitor intelligence from the retail customer, through both an in-store and market data perspective, breaking down their strategy and allowing Bayer to review their
key drivers of growth, aligning to Bayer’s Category Visions.
- Internally, optimizing the recommendations and driving business-wide knowledge of which of the levers to use in which customers and at what time to maximise our revenue.
- To own the development and cascade of KPI metrics within the retail customer
- Leading the category agenda and being a pivotal key decision maker within Local Category Teams for lead brands
Who you are:
- Educated to degree level
- Extensive experience in sales / category management / category insights
- Experience of multiple categories and markets both within FMCG & OTC environments
- Strong understanding of UK retail trade
- Expert In-store Excellence and experience of building strategic category partnerships
- Strong communication and influencing skills
- Excellent presenting and analytical skills
- Consultancy and Shopper Research experience
- Strong experience of research dissemination and insight identification
