Summary of Role
Anthesis’ Supply Chain Team operates across the private, not for profit, and public sectors with a focus on the full supply chain of a product, from raw materials up the value chain.
We are seeking a Senior Consultant with deep expertise in the Dairy sector to start within the UK Sustainable Supply Chain Team (preferably as soon as possible) to support with our existing client projects and to help to deliver our ambitious strategy for the Decisive Decade.
This role exists to support our growing client work on results-focused supplier engagement, with a particular emphasis on helping our global agriculture, food and beverage clients to deliver regenerative agriculture outcomes across key commodity supply chain, in particular those related to milk, dairy, dairy derivatives and meat.
The role will offer opportunities to work across the full range of Anthesis clients on supplier engagement activities, including a wide range of agriculture focused programmes, with a primary focus on the dairy sector.
The successful candidate will support our key clients’ progress towards more sustainable and climate smart production across key sourcing regions.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience with supplier engagement, especially within the agriculture and preferably the dairy sector. This includes the key sustainability challenges and opportunities associated with farming. They will have practical knowledge of the role farming plays in the wider agrifood system and the commercial, operational and technological levers to affect change.
Key Responsibilities:
General:
- Project manage a small number of key clients on a variety of projects, acting as key point of contact for relevant clients to ensure efficient and high quality project delivery.
- Contribute and lead development of key client deliverables, providing technical knowledge of agriculture and providing recommendations on enhancing sustainable performance in meaningful and practical ways.
- Planning and undertaking project tasks, such as research and analysis
- Managing yourself and a project team to achieve tasks on time and within budget to ensure that projects perform against targets and deadlines
- Give support on the preparation of detailed project proposals including operational and commercial estimates, and marketing content at the end of projects
Expertise-Specific (Agriculture / Dairy):
- Work with key clients as part of a global team to provide ongoing sustainable agriculture and dairy knowledge and experience.
- Review primary data collected on farm (via Anthesis and the digital tools we support) to assess on-farm GHG, regenerative agriculture and animal welfare performance. Make recommendations on data enhancements and quality improvements.
- Shadow audit farm data collection processes, including the potential to visit farm sites across key global sourcing regions.
- Support clients with expert advice on agriculture with a particular focus on dairy carbon reduction and removal programs
- Have broad understanding of SBTi and FLAG emissions
- Input into training collateral to support engaging and upskilling key clients, their supply chains and other key stakeholders
- Have a broad knowledge of Animal Welfare across the agriculture supply chains (knowledge of welfare in Apparel Supply Chains would be a bonus)
- Hold 1:1 meetings, interfacing with key internal Anthesis teams, client stakeholders and third parties to provide insight and support on dairy production systems and sustainability hotspots (e.g. production systems, feed sources, manure management, energy)
Key Requirements
- Agriculture degree or related field
- Demonstrable experience (3-5 years) of working in the dairy sector (Knowledge of farm to retail supply chains)
- Practical knowledge and understanding of dairy farming
- Working knowledge of the sustainability challenges impacting dairy with a particular focus on greenhouse gas emissions reductions and removal opportunities and regenerative agriculture
- Strengths in working in multi-stakeholder environments.
- Experience of project and programme management
- Experience in delivering high quality and professional reports, in multiformat and for various audiences.
- Strong analytical skills and commercial acumen, with advanced Excel skills
- Working knowledge of sustainability legislation and reporting, including corporate sustainability reports.
