A Brief Overview
The Senior Corporate Bond Trader II will demonstrate disciplined decision making, risk management acumen, and timeliness when executing investment strategies on behalf of the portfolio management and new business (Investment Solutions) teams.
This trading role includes management of relationships across the dealer community and candidate must represent RGA in a professional and commercial manor. The trader in this role will be required to be creative and collaborative across the department in the development of new and potentially complex strategies
Responsibilities
- Execute trading strategies, ensuring that trading is done in line with best execution requirements, department policies, and guidance from portfolio management or investment solutions teams
- Manage new order syndicate process for corporate bond new issuance, managing orders to optimize allocations
- Work with portfolio managers, credit team, and investment solutions teams to develop and refine complex strategies
- Develop and maintain productive relationships with dealer community to ensure consistent access to relevant information and resources, and to obtain best levels on transactions
- Maintain intermediate understanding of derivatives instruments and execute on structured products containing derivatives components
- Communicate openly with other traders, analysts, portfolio managers, and investment solutions teams, regarding market developments and trade execution
- Maintain knowledge of financial markets, current events, economic conditions, industry developments, competitive environment, and best practices
- Provide coaching/mentoring and training to foster development and grow capabilities of junior team members
- Identify and initiate process improvement solutions
- Act as backup for the US based trade desk
Required Education And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 6+ years experience trading corporate securities, 8 years in investment management in an institutional setting
- CFA or progress towards
- MBA or MS degree in finance or equivalent
Preferred
- Programming and process improvement/automation skills
- Experience in a Credit/Fixed Income research analyst role
Required Skills And Abilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of fixed income markets
- Thorough understanding of economic theory, global financial markets, fixed income products and trading strategies
- Strong quantitative, analytical, research-oriented approach with sound problem solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with portfolio managers, research analysts, and other traders
- Intermediate understanding of the characteristics and uses of derivatives products
- Deep knowledge of best execution practices and has a good relationship with dealers in the fixed income space
- Advanced experience with BlackRock Aladdin, Bloomberg, Excel, and various electronic trading platforms
