Kiwa Electrical Compliance is seeking a Senior Electrical Safety Engineer to join our team in Blackwood, South Wales. About The Role
- Support the business targets by scheduling testing in an efficient manner to minimise interference and clashes in customer requirements
- Testing electrical products in line with the requirements of the relevant standards
- Provide support to the safety department
- Maintenance and expansion of existing knowledge for Electrical Safety and Compliance
- Identify ongoing training needs and deliver appropriate training for the Electrical Safety team ensuring maintenance of the skills matrix in order to support the current and future Electrical Safety UKAS and IECEE schedule
- Electrical Safety report checking and approval, ensuring the use of articulate, technically clear/concise
- Ensure Electrical Safety calibration is performed in a timely manner and records are fully maintained
- Identify changes to relevant Electrical Safety standards, create standard comparisons, update Technical Procedures (TPs), deliver and record relevant changes in regard to methods and equipment to enable additions to UKAS scope
- Support the central quality team in maintenance of the QMS, with local responsibility for the technical aspects for the business unit
- Assure the quality of test results by overseeing the performance of pre-test checks, intermediate checks, intra-laboratory and inter-laboratory testing and subsequent analysis of data, following up with improvement actions where appropriate
- Working with the Laboratory Manager to ensure Project Management to time, budget and scope
- Regular, clear client communication, internal and external relationship building
- Maintenance of the highest standards of site safety and associated activity particularly for the Electrical Safety lab
Do you have what it takes?
- A degree in related field or equivalent technical experience
- Knowledge of ISO EN 17025 requirements and its practical application
- Technical understanding of Electrical Safety
- Technical experience in a laboratory-based role in a similar field
- Practical, hands on approach
- A full clean driving licence
- Highly numerate and demonstrable technical experience
- Outstanding customer service and quality focus skills
- Confident, articulate and logical problem solver - ability to deal with issues arising in the Electrical Safety lab
- Strong people management and organisational skills to prioritise competing demands on a daily, weekly, monthly basis
- Ability to grow the Electrical Safety department and take the team with you
What can you expect from us in return?
- £40,000 - £45,000 per annum
- Generous Annual Leave - Starting at 25 days plus Bank Holidays, with the option to buy additional leave and increased entitlement with length of service
- 37.5 hours per week - Monday to Friday, lab based role
