An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Engineer – Product Integration to join the Vehicle Integration department in a rapidly expanding and exciting work environment.

About The Role

The role of the Senior Integration Engineer is to ensure all systems within the product are compatible and work together cohesively to deliver the functionality and performance required by the customer. The individual will be involved in projects from the earliest feasibility studies, to capture the needs of the customer, cascade those requirements down the systems-tree and will follow-through to final engineering sign-off; ensuring appropriate validation & verification is put in place to guarantee quality product development. Senior Engineers provide technical leadership, identify conflicts and lead collaborate within the team to ensure the optimum design solution with a win-win mentality for all parties.

What You Will Do

  • Coordinate a full spectrum of requirements, identifying any conflicts and ensuring those requirements are measurable and validated against benchmarks.
  • Assess complex technical directives and or standards, able to adapt them to component designs and systems.
  • Lead the development of a project attribute(s) and its target cascade process, identifying any compatibility concerns and can make targeted revisions or recommendations to resolve such concerns.
  • Identify and resolve specific compatibility issues across vehicle, product, system and component levels.
  • Perform cross attribute or system balancing and trade-offs with consideration to key metrics including cost, system function and material properties.
  • Use a broad range of development tools and methods appropriate to time available, failure severity and part complexity.
  • Produce component and system design alternatives to deliver original intended functions.
  • Create supplemental design verification methods or recommend revisions consistent with customer needs and technology trends.
  • Support development of test and durability cycles to reflect customer usage.
  • Act as single point of contact with clients for technical matters, conducting meetings virtually, on-site and with potential travel to client site(s) or location(s).
  • Identify and resolve issues in project teams including technical, cost, time and resource.
  • Perform a Technical Lead role on small to medium scale projects from feasibility to all delivery stages on a product or system.
  • Support onboarding activities of industrial placement and graduate engineers, providing mentoring or coaching support.
  • Influence engineers across legacy methods of working with increased knowledge and methods of improvement.
  • Critically evaluate supplier and competitor products, and report on latest technologies.
  • Interact with Business Development Group to provide commercial insights for potential bids/tenders.
  • Lead external client review meetings, influencing design making to design, sourcing, manufacturing, quality and launch.
  • Translate interactions for presentation and report writing across a diverse range of audiences including senior leaders, clients and engineering departments.

About You

  • Significant experience in the automotive, motorsport, off-highway or aerospace industries in 1 or more of the following technical areas: Electrification, energy storage systems, ePowertrain, power electronics, body or chassis systems.
  • Experience moving a programme from a prototype build phase into a production build phase is essential.
  • Knowledge of how design changes impact components or system performance/interactions is essential.
  • Experience of leading product DFMEA.
  • Experience coaching or mentoring junior engineers in technical duties or soft skill development.
  • Knowledge across 1 or more core systems of an electrified product e.g. thermal, energy storage, control or propulsion.
  • Able to work collaboratively to resolve challenging situations.
  • An engineering qualification (e.g. Degree) in mechanical, automotive, electrical or aerospace engineering.
  • Knowledge of JIRA, Polarion or Teamcenter would be advantageous.
