Stanton House are working dynamic finance team in the retail services sector who are looking to hire a dedicated and detail-oriented Senior Technical Financial Accountant. This role will take responsibility for all statutory reporting of the Group’s accounts and other external facing reports. The role will also focus on ensuring compliance with tax regulations and to optimise the financial outcomes for the business.
Salary - £70,000 - £80,000 (depending on experience) + bonus & wider benefits
Location - Birmingham (Hybrid)
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with company policies and regulatory guidelines, ensuring all reports are completed on time and presented to senior management.
- Prepare and review Group and key subsidiary statutory accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Oversee compliance with IFRS standards (IFRS16, IFRS9, IFRS15, IAS36), including preparing audit papers as needed.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and assist in preparing tax returns and planning, working closely with tax advisors to optimize the company's tax strategy.
- Manage and maintain the general ledger, ensuring all financial data is accurate and up-to-date, and oversee the implementation of any necessary adjustments or corrections.
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits to ensure successful completion, acting as the main liaison between auditors and the finance department.
- Work with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support strategic decision-making, offering financial expertise to drive business performance.
- Implement process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency in financial reporting, identifying areas for automation and optimization.
- Handle acquisition accounting and integration processes.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff, fostering their development and ensuring they adhere to best practices.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and financial forecasts, monitoring variances and advising on corrective actions as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Qualified Accountant - ACA, ACCA or CIMA
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or finance.
- Hands-on experience with group consolidations and intercompany reconciliations.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
- Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
