The RSK Group have a unique opportunity for a qualified Senior HR professional to join the team as a Senior HR Business Partner supporting our Geosciences & Engineering Division and the People Management of the HR Operations Team. This is a full-time, permanent role, reporting to the HR Divisional Manager. Although the role is remote, there are requirements to travel. Our preference would be if you were located around Cheshire, Birmingham, Bristol, Hemmel Hempstead or London as these are offices that are widely accessible across the Group to attend meetings, training, and undertake office-based tasks as required.
This is a varied role with a large proportion of the time focusing on managing a team of 7 consisting of Administrators, HR Advisor and HR Business Partners, managing casework and projects. You will be required to build solid relationships and understand the teams and individual business challenges, to enable you to support effectively with the day-to-day HR matters and overall HR strategy. The role would suit someone who is comfortable working in a fast-paced, complex environment, with a challenging workload, comfortable and confident in managing and developing a team.
The role provides a significant amount of exposure and opportunity to develop your HR knowledge, supporting and leading on a variety of HR matters
You will work remotely however, there is expectations of travel across the country as and when required.
Responsibilities
- You will work within the Geosciences and Engineering Division, across circa 30+ business units reporting to the Divisional HR Manager, with your own direct reports who you will directly be responsible for the line management and development of.
- Mentor, coach and support team members in their duties to support the delivery of the HR strategy, identifying any specific training needs
- Promote a positive and collaborative team ethos and prioritise the development of less senior members of staff, carrying out regular one to ones and being a key escalation point
- Ensure you are up to date with HR BP’s progress in working towards the Businesses goals and objectives whilst upholding the businesses core values.
- Support the Divisional HR Manager in the management of other HR requirements when needed, including responsibility for projects and ad hoc requests.
- Manage and maintain contracts, personnel files and other employee information.
- Support and contribute to the investigations and management of payroll queries
- Be comfortable with travelling at short notice as and when required with flexibility to manage your own diary
- Partner our Key Stakeholders and drive the HR strategy to improve service delivery.
- Reporting on employee data helping our key stakeholders to identify key issues and help implement sustainable solutions.
- Partner multiple business units, reporting on key areas of the business with robust analysis and recommendations that can provide sustainable solutions
- Acting as a point of escalation and mediating conflicts
- Use your skills and people data to train leadership on optimal people management and develop sustainable solutions for business unit specific issues

- Developing strategies for individual Business Units cascading the goals and objections of the Division

- Developing well-being initiatives in collaboration with the Divisional HR Manager and Well-being Team
- Partner with the Recruitment Team to track and report on vacancies, promoting internal movements
- Develop and disseminate various communication materials
- Effectively manage, monitor and co-ordinate disciplinaries, appeals, grievances, sickness absence, merger’s, mobility, restructuring and a range of employment and employee relations matters ensuring legislation, policy and best practice are followed.
- Coach, support, mentor and challenge managers in the application of HR policies and practices and on a wide range of employment related issues, promoting best practice and encouraging greater ownership. This will include providing advice and guidance on HR issues in order to minimise risk and financial exposure.
- Collaborate with the Recruitment Teams team, in understanding requirements for the business, attending interviews as appropriate.
- Work closely with other HR specialist to leverage the value of the whole HR offering, coordinating across functions as required.

Person specification
- You will have 5 years proven experience in managing a team and have been responsible for their development
- At least 5 years previous experience of being an HR Business Partner
- CIPD L7 part or fully qualified or hold a relevant HR qualification. A degree in HR Management, Law or related field would be an advantage
- Skilled at networking and establishing relationships
- Proven experience in proficiently leading on a variety of different Employee relations cases
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, illustrating empathy where required, sensitively and maintaining confidentiality
- Proficient in IT software such as Microsoft packages
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of employment legislation with an ability to advise and articulate within the scope of this, within your areas of knowledge and capability
- Skilled at metrics and trend analysis, therefore, must be data driven
- Some knowledge of VISA applications, sponsorships and intercountry transfers would be an advantage
- Sound knowledge and understanding of TUPE
- Understanding and experience in M&A would be an advantage
- Understanding and recognising limitations in knowledge and seeking advice where appropriate.
- Confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, effectively establish rapport and build strong relationships with people at all levels.
- Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to be concise and balance this with the required level of detail
