What You’ll Be Doing
- Providing legal support and advice to all functions within the Submarines business
- Negotiating, advising on and advising colleagues on a wide range of contractual arrangements with the UK MoD and suppliers
- Providing legal advice and support on regulatory issues, including nuclear, health and safety, product liability and export controls (note: previous experience in these specific areas is not essential)
- Helping to drive improvements in business processes and participating in delivery training on legal and contractual issues
- Managing, supporting and developing more junior members of the Submarines Legal team
Your Skills And Experiences
- Have a background in commercial and/or corporate law with expertise and experience in a broad span of the law and contracting
- Be comfortable working in regulatory environments where the rules are not always clear and which therefore demand pragmatic, defensible decisions
- Have demonstrable experience of assisting in complex high value commercial contracts

The Submarines Legal Team
The Submarines Legal team operates in a complex, challenging and busy environment supporting the national endeavour of delivering submarines to the Royal Navy, alongside other Submarines programmes and stakeholders.
Reporting to the Submarines Chief Counsel, this is a high profile role which is critical to maintaining the Submarines business’ licence to trade. This is a fulfilling role with enormous variety and interest.
